What another fantastic build.
Re: 1/16 RC IDF Late Sho't Meteor Centurion with 105mm - build
Thanks, Got it.
As I am studying the Sho’t Meteor for the final detailing phase, I thought I might share the pictures I found on the web, with items of interest.
Be aware that these apply to Sho’t with Meteor engines, IDF extended hull for rear internal fuel tank and 105mm L7. These are not for early 1967 sho’t or Sho’t Kal versions.
Guards for glacis larger side headlights, with maybe a ration box behind it. Two attachment points on the glacis in front of the driver with raised fuel cap on its left.
Hub for the tow cables on top of the rear fuel tank top plate. Vertical exhaust pipe. Mud guard reflector mounted in a back plate, I earlier removed the back plate… Humm.
M2 stand details. Note how commander rotated the cupola to position the M2 on the right towards the back and out of the way. Also note the position of the loader with arms resting on the front hatch, same as on the figure I created for the model. Vertical exhaust. We can clearly see the two handles on top of the extension top cover plate.
Notice the powerful surveillance optical device on the turret of this tank on next two pictures. Also vertical exhaust seem more common than originally thought. Great view of the tow cable storage position. The gun travel lock is raised on the tank left side but there seems to be another gun travel lock on the right, lowered and noticeable on other tanks as well.
Plates at the back of the fenders on this one. Searchlight installed, frontal view, and M2 stand details. Different tail lights arrangement on fender edges. M2 rotated to the right. Two gun travel locks.
Common tarp on smoke grenade dischargers.
Same tail lights setup as above.
Glacis box now on front left fender on this one, this is rare. Search light installed, profile view. Smoke grenade dischargers removed. Hook above mantlet.
Detail on turret searchlight storage box. Notice the cuts in the sides for the jerrycan brackets. Mount for cable wheel on the turret right still in place, AA had me removed it. Brackets on turret top. Uzi submachine gun deposited on the fender jerrycan.
Side headlight guard and orientation of fender jerrycan.

Details
Some attachment points on the back plate.
M2 stand
Missing smoke grenade dischargers, stand for biscuit box on glacis. No glacis side headlights.
Tail light placement and tow cables
More attachments for rods
The biscuit box, stand and straps on the left glacis, Tow hooks
Wondering what those thin rods are at the back. Would appreciate if someone knows. Thanks
View of the plate on the left fender and also notice wiring details when the tail lights are attached to the fenders. Looks like the tail lights were moved to the fenders and they just extended the existing wiring.

Can I asked what is your choice of IDF figures (commander or loader?) ? I can't seems to find any IDF figures anywhere.
Re: 1/16 RC IDF Late Sho't Meteor Centurion with 105mm - build
These are no IDF tank figures on the market other than some fantasy female crews from Sol models. As per a post dated Sept 30 with more details, I converted two FC Model Trend 1/16 Spanish Nationalist tank crews coming in plain uniforms and gave them 1970s era US tank helmets that the IDF used. It seems to fit perfectly.ongbenghui wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 6:45 am Can I asked what is your choice of IDF figures (commander or loader?) ? I can't seems to find any IDF figures anywhere.

Wow... don't think i am able to pull off this...
Re: 1/16 RC IDF Late Sho't Meteor Centurion with 105mm - build
Hi everyone,
Back for my Spanish hiking trip in the Pyrenees. Not sure if it was the 2500m altitude, the roads with endless switchbacks, the creepy medieval villages i was staying in, or maybe i am just getting old but i never came back home so dead tired. However, it was a memorable experience and highly recommended for active guys who want to get away from it all, as long as you keep off the easier and more popular family oriented trails . Example below in the Parque Natural Posets Maladeta where i met only 4 people and felt i was Frodo hiking towards Mount Doom. Amazing sceneries.
Continuing with the build
Below is the view of the front of the fender bins with the two holes on both sides. I thought there would be a part provided in the sprues for them but there is none. Looks like this is a factory building miss because the front parts for the bins show in the instructions of the naked model. It doesn't matter, i probably would have scratch built it anyway and they save me the time to remove it...
Front fenders on a Mk 5 should look like this, but on a modernized Sho't, i replaced the British signal lights and installed US lights instead, consistent with the other lights on the late Sho't conversion.
It's not too complicated, it just takes time.
I installed the signal lights salvaged from the top of the Mato Sherman headlights. But then i realized that there is a platform 2mm think just in front of the bins, related to the mud guards. I saw that earlier but somehow neglected to realise the situation or taking action, i had other concerns at the time. But now that i am thicking of installing a jerrycan at that location, i can see that something is terribly wrong. What the hell is a 2mm thick platform doing on the front fenders
Obviously a design problem, it does not make any sense.
Centurion fender and mud guard should look like this, as seen on my Ludwig Sho't Kal. The fenders are flat, until the gentle slope downward.
No way around it, i have to fix it. Which means removing what i previously installed on the fenders.
The Dremel and nail files do a good job on the platform, however, the slope is gone and needs to be recreated.

Re: 1/16 RC IDF Late Sho't Meteor Centurion with 105mm - build
Reworking the mud guards, there is a hole for the fender, and i had to put a thin plasticard layer on the front fenders to rebuild the flat surface, with the separation.
As seen on a Sho't Kal, there is a separation after the bins, with 4 bolts, washers and nuts, head down on IDF tanks.
Everything is put back, re-adapted to the lower mud guards. The molded on bolts retaining the skirts were previously removed and have been replaced by M1.2 brass bolts and washers.
Notice how i integrated the mud guard bracket with the front skirt bolt, the best i could.
Moving to the jerrycan and holder.
As seen in this reference picture, this view provides the shapes and location of the holder on the front right fender. The holder is not as simple as we might think, or we might want it to be. Notice the position of the jerrican holder over the separation on the fender, this reference helps position it. Also notice the UZI sub machine gun deposited by the crew.
Another view of the jerrycan holder, this time from a Sho't Kal but it is the same. Notice the two support rails at the bottom.

Done in brass, a two hour job with brass strips, 1.5mm tube, M0.6 bolts, a nail file, plyers and superglue.
The support rails seen in reference have been added.
The strap remain to be installed, after painting.
I ordered UZI sub machine guns from Reedees miniature. These are excellent and Reedees have the best 1/16 small arms on the market
Depositing one on the jerrycan like the reference picture, just for the fun.
