Any 380 motors should be ample for this size of tank.

What gearbox will fit this tank? I notice that the Heng long look completely different from what I have in my T-55. I have two T-55 chassis. One is missing the gearbox.

Whatever gearboxes you go with will probably need to be a mid/low config as the rear deck height is short.

Just use the ones that come with the kit - failing that I believe they are almost a copy of Tamiya Pershing gearboxes.

Low profile boxes would be the best as mentioned.

I think Pershing gearboxes have been used in the past as replacements.

He has a tank with no gearboxes at all so he is looking for some that fit.

I took the sprockets off the T-55 and tried putting them on the spare Heng Long motors I had. They don't fit. Seems like Heng long are bigger diameter. So to keep things simple should I just order Hooben motors? I guess I could try contacting Twin Horse. Anyone have experience with the Hooben's CNC motor upgrade? Are they worth it?

You could send the HL gearboxes or shafts and T55 sprockets to MK Modellbau and he can machine them for you.

He's in the US, that would probably cost more than Hooben gearboxes after shipping.

If they were bigger, I would the gearboxes spinning by running directly off a battery while sanding the shaft down with a file or a Dremel.
