I've seen a lot of different pictures with different attachments around the center grill and many with none at all. On the ones that have them they all look to me like things used to lift the various styles if exhaust heat diverter devices into place.
Forget about all the speculation I did about the rear deck grill mesh. I when back through all the pics I got off prime portal and it can be stated that there are at least 3 different size and shape meshes used.
I'll post them on your build site so you can see what I mean.

Think you may have misunderstood the area I was describing Giant

The area I'm speaking of is right above the exhaust...above that off black area...that area with the small lift hook....I was going to add those hooks and those two blocks of metal onto that area on my model...thing is it seems too thin to do it...So I was wondering what you thought about it...as it could be HL...is a little off scale there

PS...Wonder where's ATC...think he's doing some grab handles

I see what you mentioned and it may be standard on the v2. don't forget the pic is of the v2 not the v1 or the earlier m1a2 which is what the HL is.
Maybe he saw how much better your handles make the rear deck look and will surprise us with a pic of his with all the handles on his redone.

That tail end looks so neglected on the model...those tiny details would help a lot...thing is that area looks awful thin height wise...so I'm not sure they will fit..
ATC was pretty adamant about doing handles

....but they do take time and he hasn't been around ...so you never know

I'm sure they could be added. You already have a hybrid since you did the v2 battery box covers and the v1 uaapu exhaust vent. Go for it if you want something else back there. (you could put together a tow bar like I did and rear mount it like mine, that makes the rear end look less naked).

Just a minor update using the photos provided by greengiant:

atc - that looks right, every v2 picture I've looked at has that which makes sense because unless there were internal cable or chain stops for that large or a door it would need something for it keep from ruining an internal hinge even if there was room for it.
Don't forget the almost invisible small raised square on the back under the hinge mount. Looks like some kind of slightly embossed data plate that is painted over.
ALPHA - Like I said you have a hybrid, kind of a v2 hull with a v1 turret, which means the battery box hinges are needed I think.
