Just wondering Painless... how did you isolate the LEDs in the headlight and tail lights... mine bled like a sieve ..in the dark the whole thing would illuminate

Good Morning,
Being an older tank, I think that the lights on mine were smaller in output or some such. They always seemed dimmer than corresponding HL lights and had the resistors in place to ensure that everything got power from the old style Mato board. At night when running, I see a couple of tiny pinpricks of red light at the back of the tail light fixtures and the same in white from the front lights. The surrounding housings remain dark and the output from the 2.4 GHz board swap out has not noticeably brightened the beams in front or the red lights at the back. They look fine and for lack of a better word, 'scale'. A nice touch is that the Mato headlight and taillight housings accept the clear Tamiya lenses. Makes for a really nice touch like the spot housing on 'Maxene'.

So your paint was enough to do the job ...Mato does use smaller LEDs... but dang where they bright... I'm not sure if it is as you suggest...that the Heng Long has perhaps a higher output from the RX but I had to cap the backs of the LEDs ... then use metal paint..then wrap them with aluminum tape to finally close all the light bleed ..I'm not saying it doesn't happen with Heng longs... they bleed as well...but for some reason ..perhaps the size of them...they are a little easier to deal with

Alpha, I agree, at 35 tons avg weight for an average loaded M4, it is a speedy tank indeed! Thanks for the cool vid link ;o) I have spent the last couple of afternoons painting the .50 cal, repainting the add-ons and tools. Today, I remounted everything, touched up any sqwarks that I saw and now, 'In The Mood' is complete. I still have to source new and reuse part of the original decals and weather and rope on the few extra stowage bits but she is complete as she stands, fully useable. Pictures of the progress:

I particularly like that .50 cal. You have probably already mentioned it, but is that the Tamiya one?

Like the bullet hole in the helmet Painless... was the person who took the hit bending over? or is a remnant from Crazy Joe...tossing it in the air and showing a little trick shooting.... as it is very interesting that that the hole is dead center on the top

It's for dang sure it won't be used for cooking

By the way...notice the lack of light bleed...dang the Mato monkeys must have altered the mold.. when my rear lights went on the entire rear end was illuminated in red
