You cant compare a H/L to a torro proffesional, only thing thats plastic is the upper hull. Zimmerit is easily applied to great effect to turret with milliput and applicator.
Tamiyas are a great piece of kit, but for a 90% plastic model that is molded for a couple of pence in a factory, i think there mark-up on these products is to high.
Tamiya are still market leaders, but others are catching up very fast, and for £500 i expect a product to be sturdy and made of metal.
My mates tamiya king tiger is not miles ahead of the torro in terms of quality or detail, in fact we can't really tell the difference, but i agree the tamiya electrics are far superior.
And all i've needed to spend on it to really improve it was the 2.4ghz mod, now it works perfect and am overjoyed with it, so much i've just ordered another one for my son's birthday from steve at wdm's.
