Ian, Do you or anybody out there knows whether the IR LED's in these units should come with some kind of resistor within the circuit, because we have found ours does not have any resistance connected to the LED as normal. Is that correct?

Ian,
Basically you should have IR receiver and wiring loom as per the second picture, this has a 5 pin plug on it and that plugs into the CN2 port of the RX18 (top picture). You then need to mount the IR emitter where the red BB warning light is (just pull out the red LED and leave in the turret) then mount the receiver mounting plate undo one of the turret hatches.
If you push the k button the IR emitter should flash (visable with digital camera). If you use the the left stick you wait for the BB motor to fire, that sends a signal to the RX18 for the track recoil & sound and activates the IR fire.
If you've done all of this I cannot think of a reason why it isn't working apart from a fault some where. But the odds of both units been faulty is slim, maybe contact the seller and explain the problem.
Ian.

No resistor needed it is already done in the RX18.
Ian.

Ian,
Thank you for all your assistance. Yes all connected up as per your last email, only difference is on the Tiger I was able to use spare hole in turrets gun to place the IR led and on the Pershing we just drilled another hole the other side and put the IR led in there. You can see both IR led's through holes to ensure nothing is blocking their beams. Otherwise everything as per your instructions. Seller has basically said it must be down to how we installed it, which I can understand but not very helpful.
Regards,
Ian

I'm stuck for ideas now.
You any good with electronics? Maybe unplug the unit from the rx18 and try powering the IR emitter from a 1.5v battery (I think that should be ok with out causing damage) and see if it lights up again looking through a digital camera. Remember the polarity is important in it only work one way but wont break if you get it wrong.
Or where about are you? Maybe somebody locally from the forum could look at it?
