I've been using them for years myself and I can honestly say, this is first time I've read anyone say to treat lipos like any other battery. Yes a good balancing charger is essential, properly set up with correct rates and you'll be fine, but do you really plug your 5000 mAh battery and leave the house?

I think I'll stick to what my experience has been as well as everything else I've ever come across, and take care when dealing with them.

i got myself a good charger . that was the first thing i did and it will do the hole range of battery packs on the market.even lipo''s as well. and it balances the battery.as well as discharge too. plus as a bonus i can charge them from the car battery too.

If you buy lipos make sure you buy a low voltage buzzer for 2$ as well.

Even the cheapest dedicated lipo charger provides balance and cutoff.

Remember our tanks are cars or planes, the battery will be riding around in an armoured box. If you are still concerned pay a bit more and buy a hard case lipo

That is NOT what i said! All i am saying is that they need to be handled in a different way.If you treat them the way you are supposed to, you will be fine. As for leaving them alone while charging, i do not do that with ANY battery, NiMH or Lipo.

I am no newbie when it comes to battery''s, i have been driving RC for over 15 years now, so i know what i am talking about. NiMH also require some care, or your battery''s will go ''''lazy'''' really fast. Wrong discharge rates or charging them when not completely empty will also destroy your NiMH''s.

EVERY battery requires some care when using them. The thing i am absolutely positively sure about is that Lipo will give you more value for your money in the long run, that is if you treat them right. I have a couple lipo''s that have been going and going for over 3 years and they will last a while longer as well, and they are being used intensively.

Like i said in my previous post, i have seen a NiMH sidepack go up in flames as well, and they are just as dangerous.

In other words, RTFM and you will be fine.
