ahh i see,thank you.i did try it with the volume switch(which i soldered correctly)with the same result.im glad to hear i wont be needing the smoker,seems a bit of a drain on the battery.hopefully its just a crystal problem and not a dodgy rx18 unit.the crystals i purchased were labelled as set 3 (27.095) but under the sticker it said 26.045 lol so that may be a problem im not sure.wish i had just spent my pennies on a newer tank now its no fun fitting all the jiblets to find u got duff parts somewhere.if chrystals dont work then i think i will give up on the idea its cost me almost the price of a new smoke and sound tank in spare parts already and im feeling a bit of a plum

- Another thing , do make sure the battery is FULLY charged - or it will sulk . Been there , got the T shirt . . . . HL's chargers are iffy things , if it / the battery are stone cold during a 'charge' it could be duff , likewise if either get hot switch off !
