Hi baratheon ,
You are right about the Forum......that is the good part about it
...People are all friendly and are willing to share their skills and ideas openly and to help anyone and everyone that they can.
I always add this bit but just in case you have not seen it there is a search box located in the top right hand corner of the main forum banner that is very useful...and for anything else, just ask.
As to which tank to buy with your money ??......then there are two questions to answer..
1. How certain are you about the hobby....
2. If you are certain, then.....How much money do you want to spend....
.
.
If you are a bit unsure and have yet to be 'Bitten by the Tank Bug' then I would say buy a £100 Heng Long with metal tracks and gearboxes with the RX18 receiver......Question 2 is more difficult to answer....because its a bit like any hobby you can spend as much as you like or can afford....
......Also on the question of price you now come to a 'Fork' in opinions....which has two sets of supporters.
.
The first group will say that only Tamiya will do.....and go full option with the control unit sounds and a separate remote control.....but it IS a TOTAL kit that you have to assemble every single piece...AND it is expensive....someone correct me if I am out on the prices but FULL option ready to run £700 £800....or more ??
.
The second group say that Tamiya is too expensive and they also do not want to build a complete kits from hundreds of parts....Obviously you need to decide on type of tank etc etc but once you have made that choice and have a rough idea of finances then ..... the best option is to look at a members site called Steve. He trades as Welsh Dragon Models.....Here is his link..
http://www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk/
.....He is a nice guy and Very helpful...so you are quite safe to ring him and ask his advice......For instance an Asiatam Hull with 3:1 or 4:1 reduction gearboxes...makes a superb chassis to run a tank on and one that is hard to beat for actual 'Performance' around the garden.....
Feel free to post questions or if you like , PM me if you need more help or info on the tanks etc.
