MY KING TIGER PROJECT
Re: MY KING TIGER PROJECT
I will have to look at it again but I think that the lower hull sits up in those notches where the plastic is pushed out for the fenders.....If it is, you can just trim the lower hull so its not that big of a deal...I have learned so much making my e50 I am going to redo the king tiger at some point with welds and such...I was rushed to get a tank togather for a battle day....
Re: MY KING TIGER PROJECT
thanks buddy
Re: MY KING TIGER PROJECT
OK mc ive taken your advice despite my milliput purchase and ordered green putty as it makes sense if i scratch the tank, ive been told to use a screw driver but you recommend the hacksaw edge ,will one tube of green putty do the tank ? and can i have the two hatches you took ages to drill out of your king tigermustclime wrote:for zimmerit, I recomend this stuff....its green and if you scuff the tank its green rather than white...
I used a hacksaw blade with the blades pointing up to get this look....
I hope your upper fits on the lower hull with that fender mod......

Re: MY KING TIGER PROJECT
Here is how I see it.....when the germens stared using zimmerit, it was slapped on superthick. As the war went on, the coats got thiner and thiner...the king tigers were near the end of the run on zimmerit...take a look here...the top pic is a late tiger 1( you can tell by the single gun sight) and the others are the bovington kt..

Look at the top pic here.....

does that look like a scrw driver dabbing it or ahacksaw blade dragged, moved up and down to make the line and then dragged again?....

Re: MY KING TIGER PROJECT
outstandind once again buddy these pics are awsome and now i know by what you mean by looking at that tiger the hacksaw should leave a much sharper more detailed line .this will be my first attempt at it when the putty arrives ,and the hull is finished right so it lines up correct im going to start it, thanks for the advise once again MC its always appreciated cant wait to start it .mustclime wrote:Here is how I see it.....when the germens stared using zimmerit, it was slapped on superthick. Re: MY KING TIGER PROJECT
ok qwick update on the sides of the kt took back the sides using the idea i had but still as you can see it look a bit messy BUT WORKS

also i had to trim the chassis very slighlty for it to lock into place perfect while i was doing this i did the detail on the front fenders

just a very little building up mith some filler around the back then trim the other side to the correct line the im almost there

cant wait for the grrn putty to get here
