Thanks Tankbear. I took the drive wheels off and screwed the bolt into the drive shaft to see if it wobbled and it did a little bit. I think it could be the way the drive wheel was molded or the drive shaft.

Have you tried swapping the drive sprockets over to see if the wobble changes sides ?

From what I can see in your video clips I would be checking to see if the drive sprockets were mounting squarely on their shafts. The gearboxes looked good and the output shafts didn't look to blame and yet the wheels are clearly not turning right. The reason I asked about swapping them over was you said that one was far worse than the other - I wondered if that wheel had been machined correctly, hence saying about changing them over to see if the bad wobble changed sides or not.

The axle will be bent at the 'shoulder' , where the shaft changes size , from the bearing outwards . You might be able to bend it back straight but the axle is now weakened and can snap off . (This is why outer axle support bearings are a good idea)

Man, I dont know what to do! Can I send them to HL and get replacements or sound I just buy new ones?

Remove the Sprocket and let me see the shaft spinning from the end view. Here is why,you can remove the shaft,and if you have a vice you can straighten the shaft if the bend id slight.

Or ask in wanted for set of gearboxes that are not being used, may I suggest PHIL,at rctankwars. He may have a set for very little money of plastic gearboxes.

Also the Milliput is available from Hobby Lobby international here in the states,I was told you were in need of some locally,their in Tennessee so not to far. Regards Saxondog

I’ve got them brass gearboxes in my Tiger and their the ones I’ve managed to bend the drive shafts on!

Don’t get me wrong the gearboxes are a good improvement (use lots of lube on the shaft as prone to seizing and ruining the motors) but the brass drive shaft is very thin and bends easy as softer than steel. I managed to bend them to almost straight again and just accept a little wobbly.

If your on a tight budget search ebay for used standard HL gearbox as people upgrade them and sell the old ones cheap. If you’ve a bit more money try get hold of Asiatam or Mato gearboxes these will make you tank slower but more realistic and more torque for going over obstacles and turning on high friction surfaces like carpet or grass. Will also give you longer run time as the motors are not working as hard.

I know it is rubbish buying a ready to run RC tank then finding out you’ve got to buy something to make it run right. But as Eastern Front says the quality of HL is lacking, but this has created a whole arena of available upgrades and quite a large community of like minded people to share knowledge and experience. So stick with it and you won’t be disappointed.
