Just out of interest, what do you mean by a second class airforce ?mustclime wrote:very nice, proof that a second class air force can cost a great deal....only flaw I see is the shovel on the front armor of the mid/late tiger tank.

Germany lost control of the airspace over the battle field and their country. The reasons are many but the result was they lost the war. A first class airforce does not loose control of the airspace above the conflict.STEINER wrote:Just out of interest, what do you mean by a second class airforce ?mustclime wrote:very nice, proof that a second class air force can cost a great deal....only flaw I see is the shovel on the front armor of the mid/late tiger tank.

Re: falaise gap painting
Did German tanks not have machine guns on the turrets then? Like the American Shermans. They could have had a go at the Typhoons with them.
Just a thought.

Re: falaise gap painting
I respect your opinion, but I think because they lost control of the airspace over the ETO did not make them a second class airforce. As you quite rightly say there were many reasons for this, but their equipment although in short supply at the end was still first class. Their pilots were first class although the experienced pilots could not be replaced. In the end it was like king kanute trying to stop the tide, impossible. Thats just my take on it.mustclime wrote:Germany lost control of the airspace over the battle field and their country. The reasons are many but the result was they lost the war. You are correct about the mgs being fitted to late Tigers.Storky wrote:Did German tanks not have machine guns on the turrets then? Like the American Shermans. They could have had a go at the Typhoons with them.

Allied air superiority led the Germans to produce tracked Flack armoured vehicles such as the Wirbelwind and Ostwind, Mobelwagon They also had other mobile flack vehicles. Their success was limited and very few were produced.

Love the picture, with or without faults in the details. Decided to remove my Pantera background and replace it with this. Much better.Well a little better but the car is easier to find than the Aircraft or tanks.
