Thread has been dead for a while ... Since they still don't have a North America distributor, I had ordered 2 sets directly from Waltersons, & they are supposed to be shipped in a few days.

Anyone else order them or get a set already & could add their experience to the discussion?

Sorry for the late reply.Waltersons is once again gone silent. Not sure why,but since Craig has a source perhaps he could share the site information with the membership and the cost of these with shipping?

http://waltersons.com/hobby/ Their site continues to have 404 site not found error messages. Not sure why? So if I do recieve an update I will post it here.

Ahhh, I wish I could call her a source, but it's just typical email support .... what ever typical means with some of these companies & their email support. :wtf:

Sometimes I get an email reply within a day of sending one, other times a few days would pass & I would have to resend my original email, which I then usually received a reply within a day or two.

The information I received was, even though they have taken a few direct orders, they don't usually sell to or want to cater to individual customers, because their business capacity won't be able to take care of massive after sales service. So they rather stick to only selling to vendors & distributors. Since they didn't have a North America distributor currently set up, I guess I got lucky, because they decided to take my order for 2 when I asked. Though they may take additional small orders if contacted directly, it's certainly not something that is definite, but couldn't hurt for one to try. The cost was $69.95 + $8.95 shipping for each set.

As far as the issue you are having with their site, it is caused by poorly handled website administration & updating. Seems they forgot to change many of their links in the Hobby section from using "news" in them, to using "hobby" instead, therefore the dead links. If you just insert "hobby" where you see "news" in their dead links, the pages load up OK. I had emailed them about that issue a while ago, but haven't received any direct response for that issue. So they currently have their site split into a Toys & Hobby section from their main splash page, which I had presumed they intended to create two totally different sections at some point which would contain different products & information, but currently that is not the case. Both sections are currently 100% identical when they can be navigated (assuming you use the correct "hobby" link inserted into their dead "news" links) anyway, regardless of choosing either the Toys or Hobby main link. So if you are going to their main page showing the options of either "Toys" or "Hobby", just choose the "Toys" link & all the links after that point will be fine, or just go directly to the Toys part of the site => Here.

I was told several days (on the 12th) ago that my gearboxes would ship "in a few days", so I was hoping that would have been Friday ... but as it sits, I have not received any shipping email notice, so I do expect to receive that email on either Monday or Tuesday next week.

Waltersons is updating their site, that is all as they are releasing some new products on their Toy side.
I would not read anything into this.

Well, after several more days waiting for a shipping notice, which never came, & a couple more emails to Waltersons, I was finally informed that my two 3-Speed gearboxes have been sent out to me yesterday. Still have not received a shipping email notice with tracking info yet, so back to waiting a few days. :/

Hi Craig,
Thanks for the 'Pointer' to the Waltersons site......I enjoyed looking at their list of 'Dealers' ( I love that word 'Dealers'.....Psst !!.....do you wanna buy any Mariju... 8) ....OOPS..I mean Tanks :haha: )
4 in the world !!!......
.
1. Awesome hobbies...Owner sadly passed away and shop now shut....
2.Tank Zone..Yup heard of it.....
3.Megastore247........(sorry, but who ?) in Northern Ireland...
4. TU Model ( Top Universal Model) (sorry, but who ? )....I am guessing in Hong Kong

Surely they could cope with a few more suppliers than that....Tank Zone and Megastore 247 to supply all of Europe..... SO who covers Australia and the USA ??....Thats about 300 Million people, with no dealers...( Of Tanks that is... :haha: ... I love the word 'Dealer' ......)
.
Any news, or updates on your gearboxes yet ???

Yes, as a matter of fact they finally sent a tracking number on Sept 27th for my gearboxes, & according to the USPS, the package has just left Hong Kong.

Well, I was told about them taking on a North American vendor (or two), but it seems they haven't struck a final deal with any yet ... at least not any they would disclose to me. On other news, someone on another forum had posted that Awesome Hobbies may just be back in business soon because Warwick's daughter may have struck a deal to sell the business, so maybe Australia will have a vendor again. Only a rumor as I cannot confirm nor deny it, just passing on what I read.

To update this old post, two more vendors carry it, Gorcgo.com, a hong kong site, has them for around $75? The waltersons gearbox that is, they seem legit so far as i can tell with the 5 minutes i spent looking them up...the shipping for the gearbox to the USA is only $13, which set off red flags right there - every other Hong Kong model shop has shipping that costs more then the product, as a rule, they could be the lone exception i've found?

RC Dynasty on ebay (canadian shop) has these on sale, at the moment (27 Jan 2015) for $67 plus ship, $18 to US...) or that could be the taigen model gearbox? As you mentioned these are by no means easy to find. I'm puzzled why mato mart, waltersons and all those manuf websites don't allow you to purchase directly, or if they do, something gets lost in translation, so you can't even see your shipping costs and/or complete the transaction?
