I agree with some of the earlier comments. We have another worldwide crisis at the moment and this type of crazy bullshit can dupe some stupid people. The policy of the National Socialist Party was basically not to have a policy. Just keep feeding the public with whatever they wantet to hear. Hide their real agendas. There is a danger that this could happen again. Better to understand what happened before and understand how so many could be swept away on a tide of bullshit. I would rather spend my time reading Lord of the Rings again.

i would be interested to read it, not as have any leanings towards nazism, but maybe to get straight in my own head how one man could influence a whole nation and bring almost the whole world to war. we only learn through the mistakes of the past, and hitler was a huge mistake who could have been stopped years before the war. we as a nation and a world are too soft sometimes and avoid getting involved for fear of upsetting other people, if we carry on there will just be a sucession of hitler, just with different names.

The famous phrase by Edmund Burke that everyone quotes is even more apt now than it was back in the days of Hitler..... words to the effect..."All that is necessary for the truimph of evil is for good men to do nothing". Perhaps a few more people in government should be shown photographs of the holocaust every now and again.....

The book to read about the Third Reich is "Inside the Third Reich" by Albert Speer,the only man at Nuremberg who it was said "Knew better and did nothing" He is the German War machine from 1942 onward,he was Armaments Minister and was the one person Hitler called an equal and a friend in his Architectural ideas and vision for a 1000 year Reich.

But the difference was Speer himself,average middle class,married,children, Christian,no drugs,no anti Semitic. The Average Guy gets swept up into this system,and actually knows about everything going on,yet helps more than any other High ranking official to make it work.


One other point,Stalin made Hitler look amateur, Stalin Killed many times the people,more than will ever be known and Western Government did nothing! Made the guy an equal partner and an allies? Then in the Peace allowed this maniac to take over every nation the war was started over in the first place,Poland,remember,Poland Germany Invades Poland big Headline,Russia Invades Poland,no headline.

History is repeating itself, Socialism always ends the same way,hunger,abuse,torture,murder,and an elite group of rulers whose power is given by those who do nothing,and it starts the same way every time,FREEDOM ONLY DIES WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING,SPEER is the perfect example.

The current issue of World War II magazine arrived today,in review the articles two relate to this post,one "Eye on a Juggernaut" details a US diplomat's efforts to warn the US and British Governments of impending Hostilities.

The other is typical of the new information available from Russia concerning the Stalin Government,"Their Darkest Hour" details a view that justifies the ruthless tactics employed by the Stalin regime.

Both relevant to this discussion. After reading I will post any relevant information to this discussion,if anyone else reads this magazine perhaps they too may add to this discussion their impressions as well?

Another interesting question asked in this edition of WWII Magazine-"How many Germans were members of the Nazi Party"the answer is as follows,Begun in 1919 by 1930 their were 129'583,by the time Hitler came to power in 1933 849'009. By Sept.1939 the membership exceeded 5 million,At the fall of the Third Reich in 1945 their were 8.5 million members. Still this only represents a max. of 15 percent of the German Population. "Freedom died because good men stood by and did nothing" Political forces created the culture of the Third Reich,many were not willing Nazi members,yet the good jobs,and quality of life were hard to overlook.

Also the Peace imposed by the Treaty of Versailles did not in fact create peace,only a means for a tyrant to gain power. President Wilson was a main cause of this "Peace" today we know he was the father of the Progressive movement, a "SOCIALIST" movement.

Excellent observation,and supported by the WWII Article, as only 15 percent of Germans were Nazi Party Members,and within the Military less than 8 percent. Of course many were Germans fighting for Germany. My modelling of Grossdeutschland Division armor is partly for that very reason,professional Military fighting for their Country.

But the truth of all wars are always the same,Started for political reasons and paid for with the blood of the average citizen soldier. World War II was preventable,in many ways.Yet the Time for action came to late.

Unfortunately after WWII the madness of maniacs ruling nations continued,and even today we seem to have more than our share,
