You might want to look into the legality of those new channels - rctank.de has 3 new channels, but none of them are in a frequency range that are allowed to be used for RC models either over here or in the UK

Yeah, they list sets 8,9 &10 as 27.600, 27.650 & 27.680 MHz (what happened to 5,6,&7?). But even though that's outside of the 'traditional' old AM 27 MHz radios (which starts at 26.995 and ends at 27.255) I always thought that anything in the 27MHz range was legal in most countries (for ground models anyway) as it is classed as 'citizen band'. Or have I got that wrong?

Hi Chris,

As far as I can tell, 5 6 & 7 are the remaining channels that can be used legally with in the US and europe. It looks like in the UK you can share channels with CB users, where as here in the US the FCC polices the frequencies far more rigerously - probably because CB is viewed as a hobby in europe, but in the US its still an important communication tool in rural areas.

Some sites I looked at:
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomms/ifi/ ... al/ofw311/ & http://www.ukrcc.org/27mhz.html - UK approved frequencies.
http://rcsource.hobbypeople.net/faqs/freqlist.htm & http://wvrcm.tripod.com/fccrcfreq.html - FCC (US) approved frequencies.
http://www.fai.org/aeromodelling/frequencies/ - international list

Hope this helps,
Mart
