Of course I can go Google about it. But tried and cannot find the reason. The first tank looks like a Tamiya KV-1, and has no plating. So I thought about removing the plates but then the second photo looks exactly like mines with the bolt patterns and all. (RC Ehkranami Russian KV-1). Can you guys enlighten me with the difference?

Great link Blake.

Basic answer is the plates was added later for added protection, but wasn’t on for long as the extra weight was over stressing the chassis.

All explained here http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 105&t=7930

Also if you want to remove the armor plating that is quite straight forward.

Here’s a link the Blimp’s KV-1 build where he has removed the plates. http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... =22&t=7836

Hope that helps

Ian.

Thanks Blake and Ian. I'm also trying to get use to everyone's names. I like the direction Blake took, the link is really helpful. Lots of tips and tricks. It'll make more sense after watching the video, having the plates on is cool, even though it's just an RC, removing the plates creates realism. No wonder Tamiya's version doesn't have them on.

RX18 came in finally. Darn post office made a mistake and tried to blame it on Phil (RCtankwars.com). They forwarded the package back to Milwaukee corporate for sorting. Plugged right in. Tanks back to life. Yay! Phil is great to work with. Gonna order more. Also found a little shop across the street by accident, called "The Toybox" has all these Tamiya, Forces of Valor, VS, etc. He also orders Tamiya too. So I have a place to go to everyday now. hehe.

Next update: RX18 with fan installed.
