Odd I have never seen much rust at all on heavy quarry equipment that sat outside in the weather all year long at work. Dirt, dust and mud yes.

The German panzer were well cared for and were repainted in the field as needed, I believe each tank was issued a paint gun, plenty of photos and video that shows crews using them. High quality hardened steel that had a primer base and coats of paint applied when needed will not rust.

Fully agree on rusted exhaust pipes.

Hello all ....
This is my first post-sorry for the poor English.
A very easy way for real losses of paint and rust on the silencer.
A good primer Brown
Hairspray
Salt
Rusty pigments mixed with water – thick gruel
Paint
A little dirty, wash, etc.
Dry
A small scraping
A little practice and is such an effect.

Ok, you've shown examples of what it can do. But how do you do it? Can you explain step by step what you do with those components?

Do a google search for hairspray method weathering or salt weathering and theres plenty of videos showing it. The basic principle of hair spray is to paint your primer coat/coat you want to show up through the 2nd colour. Wait for it to cure, so 24h with acrylics. Spray on hairspray, when its touch dry, spray on your next coat. Once that is touch dry, use warm water and a stiff brush or tooth brush and chip the top surface.

You can use salt in the process or salt completely by itself but its not as easy and quite messy and the results are not as good.

AK and Mig do chipping solutions now which are way better than actual airspray and dead easy to use. All my chipping on this viewtopic.php?f=21&t=12616 was done with AK chipping solution then burnt Sienna oil paints for the rust on top.

Hello......
Sometimes instead of salt and hair spray, is still on the Brown paint (Primer) a very thin layer of fat. -gentle brushing and is such an effect ... ...

Lert is written one after the other how to do it, additional photo, painted drops of pigment, and salt, and scraping. I think that it's very easy and cheap ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ;D
