I'm building a Cromwell using a Bulldog chassis as it has the right wheel alignment and have been planning to do another as a Crusader as its the same wheel alignment and needs less work as the sides cover the top half of the tracks - not going for strict accuracy but the general look is right.
I'm using Panzer tracks and scratch building the turrets from chopped down Bulldog ones to keep all the functions working.

im going to get this one out there but could you not try a bren gun carrier using a tank hull not sure what scale this will make it but could be fun

Little dave - I looked at doing a bren gun carrier but the suspension would need to be scratch built as there is no tank with a suitable set up, I even picked up a 1/24th scale model to see if I could adapt that but its at the end of my to do list at the moment.
