Ideally I need a gearbox like in my plastic Tiger
As the motor is moved, then would need to move the smoker to the location of the old electronics board. Which wouldn't be bad as closer to the outlets.

Mmmm , have you looked at stug or jagdpanther boxes ? i think they come in low profile specs , Tiger ones won't work (short shafts) - but may be adapted by cutting back the plastic final drive housing and fitting Asiatam sprockets ?
- p.s. Does mounting the RX 18 over the battery box interfere with the Airsoft ?

Didn't notice, although didn't turn turret all way round.

Last night tried some more to figure out the smoke unit fitting issue.
First off I painted the exhaust.
Removed the pipe elbow and tried some thing else to see if I could shut the lid with out hitting the motor.

This appeared to work.
As the pipe was pointing away from the gearbox i.e. towards the front of tank I moved the smoke unit .
Didn't work. Need pipes long enough to connect, but then too long and pushed everything off.
Plan B.
Arrange so the smoke unit and pipes where fitted to the lid.

The plastic is to stop shorting between turret motor and smoker.
This didn't work either. As fouled other bits when closed plus the turning smoke unit upwide down caused oil to get everywhere.
Plan C
Put smoke unit back in starting place between the gearbox's.
Idea is to have long pipes which loop under the motors and back to the exhaust. That way leaving length to connect when lid is off and no tight bends.
Problem is didn't have any pipe so couldn't try.
So think I have it figured out but until I try can't be certain.

Bought a cooling fan for the RX18
Problem is I bought 12v version

Tried running it off battery and no good, even 2 batteries in series does little.
Also got some small LED's for the machine gun.
Some figuring out where it connects and trying it.

nice and bright.
But too late to start soldering it all together.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get some time to sit down and solder it all finally.
I'm off now to play my tiger in the garden in the dark with the flash unit.

TB , grab yourself a 5v one , I got some from amazon a while back ( usually post free , not like fleabay ), M%plin do them as well . And a quick google with '40mm , 5v computer fan ' came up with this ;-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-5V-40mm-x-40m ... 53d94a8283" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
- . . . and if you splice it onto a motor , with the RX 18 it becomes proportional

Cheers Blimp. Ordered a used 5v laptop one from ebay. Plus got some diodes and 5v voltage regulator. Idea been feed through 5v regulator from main battery feed, then connect diodes up to the motors so when used ramps up to battery voltage. Got idea from a thread for making speed proportional smoke unit.

Another day and strangely not a massive list of jobs to do which means I can crack on with the tank.
Job 1. Solder bits together, which was temp connected before.

Even managed to move RX18 off top of battery box, so shouldn't effect the bottom of the airsoft.
Job 2. Fit LED to machine gun

If you notice i've a pair coming off the front machine gun, idea was to put one in back of the turret. But the cable was too heavy duty (speaker cable) taking into consideration the turning of the turret. So i've left that for another day.
Job 3. FIt tail light.
As the tail light is in hull and headlight in the lid I had to splice the cable into loom between the two.
Wiring sorted needed to install the red LED. Bit of heat shrink round the LED and pushed into the hole. I left the legs exposed and the wire I spliced had a 2 pin plug so I can push the two together and disconnect if needed in the future.
Tail light working
No headlight now.
Looks like the red LED as closer to RX18 taking all the power.
Install a 15R resistor (only size I had)
Yeah that works.
Test run and all works.

Need to figure out another resistor size to use on the tail light as is too bright and the headlight to dim. More noticable in darker environments than day time.
Anyone know what size resistor?

if it was mine..i would just paint the light with some red paint on the tip.. that will knock it down a little.
