Hooben T55a Build
Re: Hooben T55a Build
If Forgebear recommended the Kv1 mf06 i would say go with it. He's a really helpfull & trustworthy supplier, & knows what he's talking about...
Re: Hooben T55a Build
Hi Guys
I did get the DMD and MF units recommended by Dave, just a few more bits and pieces to get before she is running, I have had to get the speaker in the turret as ive found with the tamiya electronics and the battery, there is little space in the hull, have to wait and see how that pans out when its running. I will be getting a tamiya recoil unit as Ive yet to find out how the Hooben one wires to the tamiya unit, had some great advice from rshermanking, but everyone ive seen using this kit has swapped the recoil units.
Nice to see youve gone for the T55 brizo58, i must admit, some of the mouldings took patience to cut away from the sprues, but its been great building the kit.
heres a few more pics as it progresses, still a few things to sort on it weathering wise, but its getting there:

Hi All
Just a word about the T55
.Is it just my kit or are all the kits the same
as mine has a few parts missing from the sprues and some parts are not even on the sprues
.So far had to make a few bits that are moulded in with the edge of the sprues.E.G 2 lights and the cover for the loaders preiscope on the roof
still we"r getting there slow but sure
. Found a good book for the T55A by KAGERO called Topshots 33, 44 pages 194 photos you can get it on amazon.co.uk £7.99 well thats about it for now get back to it

Re: Hooben T55a Build
Hi Brian
My MF & DMD units came from Jasons store, and he was a very fast despatch, I received them with 4 days of ordering.
The recoil unit I have in presently is the Hooben one but its not hooked up, I plan to use a king tiger Tamiya one from Jasons store, they are only about £13 and apparently fit perfectly, this gets away with fiddling with the 3 wires. I had some good advice from rshermanking, see post :http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... f=1&t=7435
As a recent newbie, he was great in advising best action, worth a read through.
You can get the clips for turret and elevation from ebay easy enough, or you could ask any of the more experienced users on this forum.
With regards to the sprues, I had one or two bits astray too, my periscope cover was also missing
if you PM forgebear, he may be able to help you out with some replacements, he recently posted that he has one or two sprue sets for the T55 spare.
Thanks for the book hint, have a look here for some excellent walkarounds: http://www.primeportal.net/apc/t-55.htm
Looking forward to seeing yours on here soon :~

Re: Hooben T55a Build
Hi Brian
The MF-06 is the KV1 unit so the sound has a similar engine sound to the real T55, I would think any MF unit will work, but the engine sounds will be different, may be worth posing the question to the forum as a new post just to make sure.
Hope this helps.
