This is the one I use. Pressure builds in the tank and is kept at a stable pressure. Must of the time the compressor remains innactive so much quieter running also.

I have just bought one of those compressor's with the airbrushes. I am very happy with both the compressor; a friend has been using one for the last 8 year's with no problems.And the airbrushes themselves are of perfectly reasonable quality, & for the type of use modellers put them to to; easy & simple to use. My only use so far was for touching up some paintwork on a motorcycle with excellent results.. I have no hesitation in saying that this is a reasonably inexpensive way of getting into airbrushing, with all you need out of one box.
I will further point out that i have no affilliation with this company or any of its products supplier's. Hope this helps with any decision you may make.

There are expensive airbrushes out there but for painting Tanks basic is fine. I use one from Hong Kong ebay cost £2 plus postage. Works well with the compressor. There are some good tutorials on the net on how to use but just as important how to clean. Most delicate part is the needle. very fine tip easy to damage.

I have ordered the airbrush with the tank, and also some black primer. I have managed to get some windolene as well. What ratio should I use. 1 part paint to 1 part windolene??

Thin paint to milky consistency. Good luck with you new toy. Treat that needle tip with care.

Yeah I will be careful. Im going to have to learn how to strip the tank down first. Do you normally completely remove everything from the turret etc when you are spraying?

Can anybody advize me as to the vallejo paints I'm going to need besides 995 german grey and black primer, to do a weathered Pz IV tools and all but not the commander, have none at the moment? Mig weathering pigments, I'm correct in assuming you use these as an alternative to pastels? I'm asking in here as I notice the original poster is planning a similar sceme. Thanks

I can report that vallejo paints seem good. I use 1 part paint to 1 part thinner which seems to go well at the moment. I found a good tip in a book about using an old plastic medical syringe to measure out the paint as it has the measurements on the side. Very helpful when getting started.

I swear by Vallejo Model Colour paints, they are truly amazing. The squeezy bottles make it very easy to meter the paint for direct use or thinning, and they can be thinned quite happily with tap water. If you buy some quality modelling brushes you will also find that you can brush it on with a wet brush, and it will give you a finish as near to airbrushing as you are likely to want on a tank.

Used neat it will give a one coat covering even over white styrene, and it can be diluted as much as you like for airbrushing, I have used 70% water in the past. I often get a scrap of styrene, put a couple of drops of two or more colours on there and use it as a mixing pallette, just pulling paint from each blob into a mix till I get the colour I want, so good for shading etc.

If you take a look at their site, you will see that it has been formulated to stick well, cover well and to give a consistent finish. They also do a massive range of colours. I buy mine from the Ebay chaps who let you pick any 8 colours for £9.99, that way I get exactly what I want. It lasts for ages as it spreads so well, in fact I prefer brushing to airbrushing with this paint as it so easy to get a good finish.
