One very important point about the post Painting and weathering in Gray. Three people doing three tanks, mine was the only one in Gray and the only one in which Enamel paint was used. Oz was demonstrating the technique and actually stripped his Tiger of all paint, this same Tiger was already in Masterclass and the new paintwork was voted in as well.

Another point is this post was the most viewed how-to on the forum, but when the forum crashed many pictures in this post were lost. For reason's of a personal nature they were not restored completely.

But the technique does work, every time I have followed the technique I liked the results, and the one time I did not sucked, wasted paint, and was stripped bare.

One thing that should be pointed out,the picture of my Tiger after the Varnish really impressed me,when I saw how it shined because of the floor polish I was pissed, I had already stripped my tank once because of the pastel dust changing colors. But Tony(OZ) knew what was going to happen over the first 48hrs. of drying, perfect matte finish, the more it dried the more the colors were visible, the grays of which I had used three were all coming out very well.

Giving me a look that I have wanted to have, All I can say is it worked for me,Steiners Tiger and Tony;s both went into Masterclass and both used Tamiya paints and Weathering steps I did not, they used oils and pigments where all my weathering and shadowing was done with pastels. Chalk scapped into different color groups and mixed to the right shade, the creases were black, gray and some orange for a little rust. The exhaust sheilds were pastel dust rubbed into the plastic that had been lightly sanded. The effect was very much like heated steal to me.

So my point is that OZ and Steiner put alot more detailing into their tanks and the result is clear,my tank was designed to be a running, shooting, outdoor tank. So my paint work was designed to endure the elements, mud.water, sand and dirt.It has held up very well. cheers Saxondog
