hi,

I tried the two part stuff too, and I couldn't get the effect I wanted. I was trying to do some spare tracklinks and they finished up looking like they had been lying around in a scrapyard for 40 years!

Which is exactly why I decided to try to make my own powder!

It just goes to confirm what I said in another post somewhere - over time one develops ones own techniques for doing jobs. What one person does successfully can cause a minor disaster for somebody else.

But part of the fun of model making (for me anyway) is trying different ideas, looking at real tanks to see exactly how they weather and thinking to myself "how can I do that"

This forum contains a wealth of information from some very experienced modellers and all the information is well worth reading and absorbing, but it also pays to look at other peoples models, ask questions, go home and experiment with bits of scrap, ask yourself if the effect can be improved on and then WRITE ABOUT YOUR RESULTS. If you don't then the pool of knowledge does not increase.

Thank you Vonrunstedt for taking the time to post your efforts. Another technique to be remembered.

Peter
