Nice work 30+,
I like the look of your paintwork and the nightfighter idea sounds really intreresting.
It always gets darkest before it goes completley black......

Thanks both of you! :D I'm happy with each progress the build makes, since time will be short next week and onward.

@majordisastor: I abandoned the Nachjäger-Königstiger idea, since I realized that the night sight would make it impossible to install the recieving unit for the IR Battle system later on. So it will be added to the To Do list on my Sturmgeschütz IV instead, where it is possible to install the night sight in front of the commander's cupola, without hindering the IR battle system recieving unit from being installed.

I'm hoping on having my KT completely finished for the Mölleröd tank days in the south of Sweden and with this pace it should be possible.

Cheers, Jens

After 65 hours of work the King Tiger is finally almost finished.

The only work remaining is to adjust the track tensioners and add a couple of small details, the rest is already done.

Now the King Tiger is also fitted with metal tracks. Because they are brandnew they still have that "plastic look", but give it a few rough runs in the woods and that will change. ;)

Maybe I'll add one or two more pic later on, but that's all. Maybe I'll add the link to a movie of my King Tiger in the woods when the time comes.

I hope you'll enjoy the pics.

Three more will follow.

Cheers, Jens

Very nice Jens, really like the paintwork. And the time you have put into this build shows in a very positive way. To bad about the I/R issues that is something I know very little about. What is your next project?

Thanks Blake,

the IR issue was really about, not being able to fit the IR mushroom had I chosen to make it a "night fighting King Tiger", and that would be a petty later on. It's fun to combat other tanks with IR, and I don't want to miss out on that with my Tamiya.

I'll buy and install a IR battle system later on, but am not in a hurry. Main thing is that the King Tiger works.

Oh, my next project... It'll probably be the StuG IV modifications that I wrote about in the Heng Long thread, and it'll be a cheap re-build, since I already have everything at home.

After that...don't know. I have about five other future projects to choose from! :S

Thanks Trev, yes I've put down alot of work on the KT, nice to know that it shows! ;)

Got the metal grids for the back of the KT today, and the difference is amazing! It looks much better, worth every cent.

Jens, You could disassemble the Mushroom tower and place the receiver panels in the site slots around the turret. Tried this with my Tiger, also some have used the commander figure and placed the panels in the figures tunic.
