3.1 gearbox ona KT
Re: 3.1 gearbox ona KT
I've seen HengLong metal gearboxes modified to 3-1 on ebay for less than £40 pair. I've put them in 4 of my tanks so far - much better that the Tamiya gearboxes.
Re: 3.1 gearbox ona KT
not getting into an argument here but i now of at least 2 people that have used those reductions on tamiya KTs and yep they do work and yes they do fit Have you tried them yourself if not who told you they dont fit

Kind regards Rob

Yes I have tried them that's why I'm saying they don't fit they need modifying most people will not be able to do this but if they can then they can save them selves some money
the ones I supplied where a straight bolt in mod exactly the same as Tank zone

They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Hi Guy's just for info the MAXX 3 to 1 gear boxes will fit both the Tamiya Tiger 1 and KT gearboxes without to much hassel. I have done this mod myself on my Tiger 1. I did have to get the pinions drilled out to 4mm to fit the output shaft. Got that bit done by a profesional cost me a few quid for a drink. As to the rest no problems just elongated the mounting holes in the Tamiya gearbox for a little fine adjustment. See attached picture. All the best for now

hi, have you guys heard of Impact? i fitted a set of there gearboxes to my KT, i must admit they are very well made and give the correct scale speed for the KT and loads of torque. Admittedly they are £100 a throw, but to go Tamiya, it was £70 for the standard boxes, then £50 for the reduction set. I did get two brand new RS 380 motors for £6 off evilbay which fit perfectly. You can alter the gearing by removing one of the sprockets and using a larger pinion.
they are all made of steel, which makes them loud, i was told that they will quiet down after a while, and they seem to be as well.
As a test, i pushed my heng long tiger 1 (with metal tracks upgrades etc) accross the carpet with the KT no problems, so plenty of power.

IMPACT TU has become more flexible.
Besides the current configured 2 GRs type (gear ratio), HOP UP Sets are available.
for the premium and high expectation tankers, IMPACT has finally made our TUs a little more flexible.
You can configure it now with 3 different gear ratios.
The current stock TU, with DDG, gives a GR of 105
With
HOP UP 1, GR = 91.6
HOP UP 2, GR = 79.8
HOP UP 3, GR = 69.5
Great thing is that the torque is NOT compromised!!!
we are running some more test with more parts, which will give another 4 more different GRs, again, without compromising the high torque.
all the sets for TYPE 5 ~ 8 will be ready for shipment after mid-Feb
2009.
