Pete mate...don't guess on anything. If you need more specific pic's just let me know. I'll send them ASAP.
Keep working at it my friend. I'm sure we're going to sort it out in the end.
Nick.

Rob mate. Everything I've said to Pete applies to you as well.
Like I said in a previous post. I have a boxed and unused system that probably represents a much more tested version that I originally got. I sent you the pic's of that later version. If you need any further help on that version then email me or PM me.
I'm looking forward to you and Pete working forward with this.
Best regards mate,
Nick.

Thanks nick
one thing that has been picked up is the I/R emitter seems to be underpowered and to make up for it more power is pushed through to compensate resulting in a very warm resistor
looking into a fix for this not a major issue but could lead to a fry-out

Wow, sounds like you're making some real progress.
Just for info....R22 on the early boards burnt out in seconds due to a gap in the board tracking. Is R22 still getting hot ?
Nick.

yes thats the one nick
had thought they had blown at first but my electromagician said the I/R emitter is still low powered and the power is right at the limits of the emitter
it shouldnt cause a problem but to be safe im looking at a higher output emitter and higher value r22

Just thought....Do your battle boards have a "bridge" soldered across the gap in the tracking on the back of the boards ?
If not, that could be a problem.

Pm me your email. I'll send you the pics fullsize by email. You should see the detail then.
My Pm's are stuck in my outbox for some strange reason.
All the best,
Nick.
if you are trying to fix the old boards you will need to replace the transisters and resisters as they would have been damaged when the board tried to fire up with the trace missing

I repaired over 60 boards with the missing trace and tested them all and they all worked flawlessly send and recieve up to 20 meters against a tamiya system
