Photos are fine,to bad about the hatch scale issue.Coud you not place another piece on top of the exsisting front plate but at a shallower angle, this will increase the length some and might be enough for the hatch issue if you scale them down just a bit.Good luck Blake

Centurion part 3

Post by mickyb »

Hi guys

Heres a couple of fotos for you....

Having started this build, I am now well aware of the skills that Fleshy and Oztruck have. Patience and an endless supply of Stanley knife blades are just a couple of the tools needed....I am learning very quickly

If you havent looked at Fleshy's Tamiya Sherman Firefly conversion you should. It is absolutely amazing. The work and skill needed to make that change from standard Sherman to Firefly is just outstanding.

On the last post, I explained that the donor tank was a bit short for the Cent to be true scale, so I had shortened the front and decided to leave the driver's hatch off. Blake offered a suggestion that I try and extend the deck in front of the turret and make a slightly smaller hatch.... that way at least all the fittings were there.

Well this evening I decided to give Blake's idea a go. It has worked out just fine so thanks Blake, I can now fit a hatch. I did not think it would look rite with the front armour at a steeper angle. but it doesn't look wrong after all.

The exhausts have been a problem. I have not been able to bend the plasticard into the exhaust box shape without distorting it, so I gave up on the plasticard and made a pair of exhausts from scrap pieces of wood.

Now for the deck fittings. I am dreading the turret, lots of cutting and filling.

Does anyone want dimensions of the deck, or any info that is not shown in the fotos????

Mike

Hi,

many thanks for the comments. I realy appreciate everyone's interest in the conversion, and hope that it continues as well as it has to date, if not I will be offering a large pile of tank parts for sale...

Yup I will certainly be at the meet in April and will bring it along. I hope that it will be in a reasonable shape by then

have a good week
