Hi Chris Another great looking tank ,if this is as good as your Panther it will be the best yet,are you fitting Tamiya DMD/MF units ,and where are you going to hide the battle unit sensors and lights.

Re: My other tank is a Porsche
Thanks chaps. I took it out in the garden for a quick test run this morning. Youtube video here:-

I've also started the build thread here:-
http://rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/viewt ... =23&t=4858" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's running with Tamiya Tiger DMD & MFU Pete. I'm thinking about putting the IR sensors around the commanders cupola but the IR emitter is going to be a problem because the Elefant aint got a co-axial MG. Might have to put the emitter in the gun barrel instead of the flash unit.
Cheers
Chris

Re: My other tank is a Porsche
Hi Chris Runs great ,about the emmitter is it posible to fit it so its flush with the shot deflector around the barrel either at the top or bottom (you could use a 3mm I.R.led but dont know what range they have)very hard to find anywhere else,or how about it in a jacking block mounted on the front between the driver and M.g gunners position,it all depends if you have side movement on the barrel.Just a few ideas hope it helps.

Re: My other tank is a Porsche
Thanks again for your kind comments lads. I'm really glad you like it. Still need to put cables, tools, unit and national markings on it and weather it a bit more, which I'll put in the build thread.
Thanks for the ideas on the IR emitter Pete. I did think about utilising the shot deflector on the gun mantlet but the tube would show too much (even if I used a 3mm LED I reckon). I could use a fixed LED of course either mounted on the front disguised as something like a jacking block (as you suggest) or part of the commanders equipment (like scissor range finder) but it would hamper IR shooting as it would not be able to elevate and depress with the gun barrel.
I keep coming back to the idea of mounting the IR LED in the gun muzzle. It is quite a big muzzle though so I might be able to mount a 3mm LED and the flash tube side by side...
Cheers

Re: My other tank is a Porsche
Hi Chris There is one other option thats to place them in line in the muzzle brake I.R.emmitter at the end and the flash at the back of it ,I think I saw this done on RCU,the flash will show even if its a little bit back in the barrel ,Ive used 2 different colour flashes in one barrel white and yellow(I think you saw it at Bovington)The focus tube is the problem it will have to be about 12mm long,did any Elephants have night sights ?Will keep scratch the old wooden block for ideas.

P.S found the link about the flash http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_93110 ... tm#9312540" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It dosnt look to bad and Im sure you could make it work

Re: My other tank is a Porsche
Hi Pete. Thanks very much for the link. That's very interesting; I hadn't seen that solution before. I did a quick measure up of the muzzle brake yesterday and I reckon I might be able to get the IR tube positioned on top of the flash tube if I use a 3mm IR LED. Might have to widen the end of the muzzle brake slightly but I reckon that would look better than a tube sticking out.

Hi Chris I found this as well http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9166641/tm.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Its made by YHR he has a plug in I.R.emmitter ,which he only puts in when battling ,the socket could then be mounted on the shot deflector and the wires would be easyer to hide.Take a look at the post .
