They are a pain, but once you get in the swing they become easier. My tip is to use a toothpick dipped in wated to place and smooth the Milliput, its much easier than brushes of a craft knife.
Cheers,

I use a small screwdriver and water to place the Milliput then a piece of brass rod filed to shape to get the weld shape. :D

Did the mantlet today, ordered some 'Mr Surfacer' 500, found it was a little too fine for 1/16, I would have used thinners to soften the plastic to provide texture but I had used body filler to re-shape the mantlet and didnt want a difference where the repair was so after masking out the bolts with some silicone tubing I mixed up a little fine car body filler/stopper with a drop of cellulose thinners, added the hardener and ended up with a very thick brushable filler, I applied a small amount at a time and randomly stippled and marked the filler. After leaving to dry (takes longer with the thinner in) I sanded off the worst 'peaks', think it looks ok. I have also warmed and very slightly taken the straightness out of the hull side' running' boards. :D

Well after stripping off the odd colour camo I have managed to base it up in XF59 , should I now give it a coat or two of Klear or a coat of Humbrol acrylic matt before attempting camo again ?? :D
