the insides of almost all tanks is flat white the reason for this was to refect what little light that was in the tank when it was buttoned up so you did not have to feel your way around in the dark

Hi Bubbajoexx.
Yer thanks Ive been reserching this and have decided that white is the colour Im using . To be honest theres not much that will be seen . Just the loaders / escape hatch in the turret was my mane concern. But thanks all for the responce on this . Just one thing is there any truth in the fact that tank crews often removed the paint the best they could because of flying paint splinters ? Any way Im using white.

Thanks everyone Littletankman

when a tank was hit it was not paint splinters they worried about it was spalling metal shards that split of tha inside of the turret and hull and only the german tanks had this to worry about as most allied tanks when hit the shell whent clean through the hull or turret

Tanks were initially done white internally but by late '44 tanks were being produced with red oxide in and out.

Hi all Ive just found a book on the Panther , forgot I had it . But in it shows what it claims to be an internal view of an Ausf.D turret . The internal walls of the turret look to be in ivory . And the internal side of the escape / loaders hatch is in a very dark colour which looks like red oxide ? baring in mind its a black and white picture ? The book in question is ' Tanks in Detail ' PzKpfw V Ausf. A , D and G Panther V by Johnathan Forty .
