This should look great when finished. Also a good idea just using the base HL camo since you are doing a winter camo. Yet another winter and still have never done one. That shipping damage is unreal. How on earth does a track get shredded like that?

On X-Mas Eve I sprayed the Schürzen with Tamiya colors out of the rattle can.

Next step was adding the Hinterhalt Tarnung onto them.
This is how the Panther is at the moment.
Figuring out which way to go with the white wash now.
Tried the hairspray method 2 times before, which was somekind of a disaster!
We‘ll see how it turns out in the end…….

Hi Martin.
Yes……I know.
Maybe they even were broken before I got the tank, who knows?
He could have made the pics in a way I couldn‘t have noticed it.
Even the battery was busted….
Anyway, that is way behind now and up to now I like this inbetween project.
Rob.

I'm hardly an expert but after an initial botched hairspray whitewash attempt, I realized you need to spray according to the final effect you want. If it's a fresh coat of white with worn areas from crew climbing on and off, use a heavy coat of white. If it's a well-worn fading end-of-winter whitewash showing the base paint, then spray light. The white layers peel off with hairspray, they don't fade and thin down. I wanted the faded look, sprayed the white too heavy...and spent the next two hours scrubbing off the white to start again, but just a fogging of white this time. Sigh...

Hi Mike.
It just did not work for me, that hairspray thing.
So I just put a worn White Wash on with a semi hard, flat brush.
Did the same with my Winter StuG and that worked out fine in the end.

It is always such a tricky thing…..messing up a camo paint you like, with some messy, worn out White Wash.
Finished the Panther a few minutes ago.
Maybe I can ad a weathering onto it tomorrow and as soon as I am satisfied with the results, I will post pics.
Regards,
Rob.

Damn Rob that is a speed build.

I thought I've worked fast before but never that quick. Yea the method you used on your Stug is what I would do too if I ever get around to the winter camo. I never could use the hairspray method even for chipping as I only used Tamiya rattle cans and they are lacquer
