Rocketman, how do you get so much thick smoke? Mine is rather anemic really. Do you use the Graupner distillate? Or something else?
Im thinking about rebuilding my smoke unit, its a tad annoying to refill it over and over, id like a fuel tank system to gradually feed it in. Also, I think a 50mm fan, might provide a better air flow.
I've been wondering if wiring the fan to the servo control wire for the throttle may provide a more instant response than the motors.

Im going to have to work out these diode bridges as well to get the smoke to flow when the tank reverses.

Phil, the video link on your site seems down, do you have the video, id love to see it.

Cheers,
Rik

yeah im using the Graupner distillate, works a treat. On the m113 imusing just 6v but on the Tiger I had them running both to a 9v battery pack which worked a treat and they didnt burn out. And you dont need the fan , they should puff out like a chuufing train on there own and the force of the boiling liquid forces teh smoke out on its own.

Thats good to hear they can take more voltage. I didn't want to rig it up, only to die on me. I did notice when I tested it the smoke came out like a train funnel. I'm using the fan to get proportional smoke, and to make it jet out like an exhaust. No I can make my battery removable again, lol. :D

As promised a follow up on the smoker, at present uploading short vid to you tube..,,
Take smoker place near exit of model , in my case fitted in brass tubeing to tank exhaust, then fitted the tube from the smoker to a plastic pipette( the thing that you suck up liquids with)... to activate the smoker i use two miro servos,, one for the power and the other for , to press down on the bulb of the pipette ..will down load a few pics but the vid shows plenty of smoke...............

Excellent Fleshy! Thanks for the post and video, very informative. I did do some reading about these smoke units, and I think in my KT i'm going to try and build some sort of 'fuel tank', and then using gravity to flow to the smoker and a fan to make it proportional. I think using a tank will prevent the need to refill all the time, plus i'll have an excuse to make the fuel cap functional, lol. I'll post pics when I get round to it.
Cheers,
Rik
