Hi, Welcome to the Forum
Good to have you on board, I have a word of advise that is as one gets older we find working with our hands in confined spaces challenging which is why I avoid Shermans and Bulldogs,
It is very easy to damage wiring and break flimsy fittings but if that is your kind of Armour go for it but take care,
Whatever you get enjoy, I hope you have fun I know some of the people here do but then any Forum will have its share of loonies. :lolno:

G'day mate, I'm the other new Texan on the forums

TRB
Welllll ya just don't hear that every day in the Lone Star state.

Yes, TRB I've gleaned you're a transplant. My Dad is also a transplant down in Austin from up here in New York. Funny though he says he doesn't feel out of place in the City of Weird... :haha: :haha: :haha:

Thank you all for your very kind welcomes & feedback (Shout out to the Ozzies for sure!)!!!
And for you fellow Tejanos... I'm in east Texas Piney Woods near Tyler; life long native, born&raised in the Big-D metromess.
@tankme: Elgin huh? Best sausage on the planet! (can I get a 'Amen'?)
@TRB: you got here as soon as you could! <3 y'all! #LyleLovettThatsRight :smirk:

Anyway, I'm loading up my Amazon "Wish List". Seems my wife (unbeknownst to her) might be buying me one of these for Xmas :haha:. I'll ask more direct questions in the appropriate fora (is that the plural of "forum"?). But to summarize my take-aways from this thread (as a red-neck American colonial; this IS a UK site, right?):
  • Tiger suggestion: Sorry. No. Over-engineered and THE ENEMY! Just.No.
Merkava: biggest of the bunch, probably indistinguishable size-wise from the 'murican Abrams? (I like the Merkava's modern relevance, and "the balls", but if it is basically same as M1A1, then I'd just go 'murica.)
Sherman: somewhat of a go-to, but can be cramped (I've heard that it can be difficult to add some mods due to space limitations)
Buldog: also a bit cramped, and has some scale issues
Pershing: bit of a black-sheep, but maybe if I jam some CCR tunes, it'll rock
I don't recall mentioning the Crusader, but I do have a bit of a "thing" for Brit tanks. Chieftains especially. They (and GDR's Leo2s,which I also love) are gorgeous IMHO (but frankly so is the T90, but again: "enemy. so No"). They are a bit large for my wife's surprise introduction to RC Tanks :/ Yes, everything is bigger in Texas, but sometime you just gotta slide that size in before anybody realizes "just how big". ;D

Bottom line from here and reddit:
"Buy Once, Cry Once" applies here (go "big" on initial purchase vs chasing add-ons for months and months)

Again: Thank you All!
