Re: M548 tracked cargo carrier - RC 1:10
I am sorry: I didn't mean to cause confusion. Don't worry about the half-track question: that one is for me. (Of course, in the future, you, too might build a half-track.)
So far as I know (not very far), you are correct that control of the tracks will depend on the joystick mapping. The particular receiver you choose depends on the receiver's compatibility with your transmitter. For example, I have a Flysky iX6 transmitter. So when, for example, I put a receiver in a little Jeep, I used a receiver compatible with my Flysky transmitter. The instructions with the transmitter included a table showing all kinds of choices.

Re: M548 tracked cargo carrier - RC 1:10
Very useful thread that! I can build (and have successfully built) transmitters for Bambu Lab's CyberBrick ecosystem, but that's probably not relevant here. I have several Heng Long transmitters I could re-purpose. But I also have one Flysky FS-i6-X transmitter. I have now learnt that I can bind several models to this one transmitter. I presume that would be the better choice, as opposed to taking both a transmitter and receiver board from a Heng long model?
If so, and considering the motors and speed controllers I have for this model (540 55T Motor, QuicRun 1060 ESC), what receiver board would be a good fit here? After some conversation with Copilot it would seem the "FS-iA6B 2.4G 6 Channel Receiver with Dual Antenna" would be a good fit. Agree?

This is a fantastic project ! What a lot of parts ! It's going to be a great model and I'm sure it'll be fun to drive as well !

Im not certain but i dont think a Heng long mfu would handle the current draw of 550 size motors and could burn out the esc part of the board
Probably your best bet would be going with your Flysky transmitter/receiver combo with the Hobbywing 1060 esc's
On my Spektrum transmitter i use the internal elevon mixer which puts throttle and turning on the right hand stick (it mixes the elevator and aileron channels together)
Hope that helps

Helps indeed! My Flysky transmitter came with a Taigen Panther that Dominique at RCTank.de upgraded with an Elmod board. So I have the Flysky transmitter but not yet any additional Flysky receivers for other builds. So I still have a choice there: would the FS-iA6B 2.4G 6 Channel Receiver be the best choice or just one that fits?Stormbringer wrote: ↑Thu Sep 11, 2025 12:19 pm Im not certain but i dont think a Heng long mfu would handle the current draw of 550 size motors and could burn out the esc part of the board

Re: M548 tracked cargo carrier - RC 1:10
I am unsure on Flysky receivers/transmitters as ive never used them
Some receivers may ha ve 3 axis gyros inbuilt to them which might be handy for keeping the tank going straight
Just remember all these transmitters/receivers are designed for aircraft and were using them in different applications ie tanks , ships and cars etc
might be best with a non gyro type receiver as it can be plonked in anywhere on the model and wont need oriented fore and aft
Whether you go with receiver youve mentioned or another 1 thats compatible with your tx (transmitter) is up to you
cost can have a bearing on that as well

Re: M548 tracked cargo carrier - RC 1:10
Thx. So final question for now: what battery would be the best fit for this setup?
Btw, the description for that receiver doesn't mention gyros anywhere so I guess that's not an issue. But it does get me thinking; would i actually be needing 2 rather big antenna's in my build?

Re: M548 tracked cargo carrier - RC 1:10
whether you need 2 large antennas or not whatever you do Do Not Cut them
you could route them in the tank say 1 each side and tape them to side of tank to give signal diversity
the bit that actually gets the signal is the bit in the black sleeve so could be taped vertically to tank side

Re: M548 tracked cargo carrier - RC 1:10
i think you mentioned lipo earlier ?
you can use lipos and i think the HW 1060 esc is 3s compatable (check 1st tho) if you do use a lipo remember to move the wee jumper to the lipo tags as lipos dont like being too discharged as they can puff up ( LVC low voltage cutoff)
Lipos are good batteries and safe if used , charged and stored properly
Currently im using 7,4V 6800 mah li-ion batteries in my tanks which are 2 18650 (vape) batteries in a pack
