Haha, you could have (soft & friendly) tank battles.

Actually, one of the modelers has some RC tanks, though he mostly sticks to 1/35 scale. His children and grown grandchildren love visiting him and partying, and he chases them around with a BB Abrams. (I know it's not recommended practice, but then, some of his children and grandchildren are mountain climbers, also not recommended practice.)

Dang. I can't even chase my cats around with an RC tank - let alone shooting BB pellets - without my wife telling me to cut it out. Granted, that would be with a 1:16 Heng Long but still ...

Wait until I'm building much faster RC cars. I'm sure my cats will really love those. :D

Then make sure the wife doesn't find out...

I was fortunate when my tanks were bb. We would take them on the field and what started as a tank battle ended me and the wife shooting each other. Usually the result of a ricochet

German Wiesel Waffentrager (Armored Weapons Carrier)

My next 3D printed tank project is another Bambu Labs CyberBrick model: the German Wiesel Waffentrager (Armored Weapons Carrier). It uses the CyberBrick hardware & ecosystem just like my previous projects but this one is an actual accurate 1:16 RC scale model. My main interest is German WWII AFV’s but this post-WWII tank is just cool. And somebody went through the effort of making a 3D print design for this tank – that always helps :)

Edumardo posted the link last month:

The designer decided to go for a minimal number of parts to print and include many details on the large hull parts, as opposed to printing these separately and glueing them on. This means orientation of the parts on the print plate and deciding where to place supports is very important. IMHO the designer pulled this off really well. (see last photo) Technically it is a simple design: there is no suspension implemented and not even bearings for the wheels/axles. Still, the tank runs but you should consider this a scale model, rather than an actual robust RC toy. The tracks are fragile but again: they get the job done.

The model is not painted. I used Bambu Labs Matte PLA Desert Tan filament which I think comes really close to the real color. The decals on the ammo boxes are my own design. 2 layered decals black on white.

This particular Wiesel is the one on display at the Munster Panzermuseum in Germany. I visited it a couple of weeks ago so it was fun to build a model for a tank that I had just seen up close and personal.

What a nifty little Wiesel, Tanker929. It would be so much fun painting that little thing! What's inside? What electronics does it use?
