The speed change feature is handy.
I went to full bore on my Merkava and T72's but reduce on all WW2 models.
Oh, and absolutely replace that headlight/frogeye!!
There are simple covers available for them that work if you grind the bulb down, but a full replacement is better.

Nice! Perhaps for the Abrams in the future. This one just gonna stick with these taigen boxes. And a Full replacement headlight is inbound!!!

Im not sure how anybody could have just 1 Jagdtiger, but maybe thats just me!!! Hahahaha

Well, that parts done.

Weld beads gouged. Still need the weld beads and flame cuts on the front plate of the lower done. Went ahead and got my most favorite tool out!!

Mudguards BE GONE!!


Now for a new question. On the Jagdtiger I used .080x0.250". It seemed to work fine. Ill add a pic. On here that does not look like enough. Maybe I didn't cut high enough on the front plate? The plastic "hinge" for the front mudguards still there. I do plan on putting the functional Mato mudguards on here all the way around. So I guess I should cut above that. Lookin at these pics the models must be a little different you can see in the Jagdtiger pic the .250 comes even with the plastic hinge....

Interested in some feed back. I was looking at jagdtiger builds and saw one where they cut out the entire side out and replaced it. That route seems appealing to me. Wondering what size strips you guys use to fill the gap?

If I had mine over again I would cover the entire side with a thin sheet and re do the welds and interlocking segments.
Getting the strip joint even is difficult and time disproportionally to its use and effect .

Yeap, build it how you want it. At the end of the day it is your tank, but if you do want to be historically correct it would have zimmert. All the [AKA] Porsche turret King Tigers that saw action had zimmert paste applied. They were built at the time that there was a directive to apply zimmert. Even when King tigers were started to be produced with the latter turret which is referred to the production turret that directive was still in place so the early ones of this variation had zimmert .Bovington has a early one of these with zimmert applied. The Porsche turret King Tiger at Bovington does not have zimmert because it was a prototype made of mild steel not armor plate and was never intended to see action so no zimmert. It was a running test dummy. It was captured along with another prototype which had a blown barrel at a German testing site by the British.

Well, that's a little disappointing. Would rather do a historically accurate build for my first documented build but does not look like that's in the cards. As I dont want to put zim on here more... hahahaha

Thanks for the good info!! I wasn't aware the one at bovington was made of mild steel. Might do the body work to make it the prototype but do a make-believe paint job... I've got no shortage of KT schemes picked out, way to many to have a plain yellow one, lol

That thing is a work a art!!!

I think im going to try that way this time for the simple fact like you said, blending that line of the strip is a pain. I can see it on my jagd. Also worried about bolting the mato fender to her. With the KT bolts being over/under like that I was concerned about running a bolt into the seam but if there isn't a seam can bolt into it.
