8O Personally, I'm not convinced that your HP is dead? hence the idea of doing a test, as indicated, after that it's your choice

HP = Speaker? HS = Broken?

Hello, have you not done the test with the battery? the HP is perhaps not HS? Well it's up to you to see!! any speaker of the right diameter will be suitable, but respect the 4 Ohms of impedance, or even 8 Ohms, will also be suitable, see on online sites, or get a PC speaker, old transistor post, transistor, etc., will also be suitable.
Hello Jofaur86,

The Tamiya speaker is marked 4 Ohms and 5 watts - exactly the same spec. as the two inexpensive speakers advertised on eBay.

I will be home later tonight and I will use your method of testing - but please explain - is the HP you refer to the speaker?

.......and when you suggest that "the HP is perhaps not HS" ..................does this mean that you think the speaker may not be at fault? ....(what does HS mean?).

Sorry I do not understand your code. B|

HP is ................?

HS is................?

The speaker that stopped working has no obvious signs of any damage. If it passes your tests, then my original suspicion that the thin yellow and white cables have fractured when they were so badly twisted can be the only other possible problem as the replacement speaker taken from my unmade kit worked immediately when it was plugged-in.

My plan to change the two (yellow and white) speaker connecting wires to the "non-working" speaker may be all that is needed to get it working again (?) but at only £3.63 each I will order a pair of the inexpensive speakers in any case as they could come in very handy as spare parts one day .

Thank you for your help!

Bob.

If the original Tamiya speaker (HP?) is not dead (HS?), I will use it in my "new build" Tamiya Leopard 2A6 (OK). :D

:) Hello, sorry for the understanding of typically French terms …
HP = Speaker
HS = Out of service, with the addition of Google Translate? may be distorted, excuse me

Ha - I guessed correctly :)

I plugged a couple of wires into a 3.7 volt LiPo and touched them briefly on and off of the speaker terminals - and as you suspected the speaker crackled every time I touched the wires onto the terminal.

It it looking like there is an internal fracture inside the yellow/white speaker wires, so I will chop them off of the plug and replace them with two similar size wires to see if this was the problem .

Thanks of your help (and your translation of the French terminology).

:haha: great, confirms what I thought, if HP crackles, it's because the conductive wires are cut

I fitted a new pair of wires and the speaker now works perfectly, so it will be reinstalled.....or fitted into my new build Tamiya 2A6.
I had to join the new wires to the old ones just a short distance away from the brown plug as I couldn’t find a source of replacement plugs of this type.
A new plug would have been preferred, but fortunately the original wires were not twisted together at this point and so were not fractured.
As a matter of interest.......does anyone know what these brown plugs are known as and where I can buy a couple of new ones ?

Hi, Zooma! I get these kinds of connectors (and others) either from a local RC car or drone shop or ("local" being in my case not so nearby) right off of Amazon. Go to Amazon UK (I use US for the colonies) and search "jst connector kit" or just "jst connector."

Here is an image with names of some of the types of connectors. As you can see JST actually indicates connectors of a few types. Nothing about electronics is clear entirely clear  .

They are Molex "Micro-Latch" connectors as far as I know.

Crimper...available in the US from Digii-Key https://www.digikey.com/en/products/det ... 00/1880141

Or, contact the "Component Shop" telling them what you require, and they will make up your leads.

However, in October (19th and 20th), they will be at the Blackpool RC show (at the Norbreck Castle Hotel), Blackpool as they put it on and run it
