servoblast you could be right about the hoops on top of the mantlet, they could have been put there to assist in dismantling the tank when it was taken to the states
that is an unusual model tiger
just to state the obvious, it has no turret bin and two pistol ports instead of a pistol port on the L/H side and an turret escape hatch on the R/H side

I read somewhere that the patch was added in the US when they 'inherited' it.

My guess is that the lifting eyes were done at the same time because the original lifting gear unsurprisingly wasn't available.

Goes to show the maxim I learned in railway modelling - you shouldn't model a 'heritage' piece because they are often cobbled together from many host parts and have late adaptions and wild paint schemes.  If you want authenticity stick to original photos, but bear in mind if you aren't too fussed that you could model a heritage piece as arguably equally valid - a WWII tank probably lasted a matter of months but a heritage tank may carry the same parts and paintwork for 30 years!!

I believe the Aberdeen Tiger is currently with Kevin Wheatcroft in the UK.

If it is the same Tiger, someone cut the left side off the turret and hull to show the innards, so if someone can find a photo from the right angle, it should be possible to see the what is on the inside of the turret behind the patch.

Adrian.

Thought that was the KT they did that to? But then, I'm no expert on what they did to the trophies.
Patch is clearly visable in the first photo, which surely is not Maryland where Aberdeen is. Land at A'deen is quite flat,  next to the Chesapeake Bay. .

another wee observation, the two pistol ports mark it as a tank produced before November 1942, so it's a fairly early production
