Beautiful models and I'm very glad that the group build idea worked.
My Sherman must wait for better times, maybe I will make it to the anniversary of the liberation of Breda by its crew (October 30, 1944)

A most generous offer, Mr. Bix, but I will most gracefully refuse the easy way out! Gotta face my demons! One of them being faces...literally.
Herr Dr. Professor and I have been chatting, and think we'll start a mutual aid thread as we paint some figures to populate a certain KV-2 and Famo. Others (hint hint) are most welcome to join in, share techniques, and gently poke and prod each other on to figure-painting greatness. We're going to start in month.
Mike.

Mother nature and I just couldn't synch our schedules so 822 never got her proper day in the snow. But here we go-
"This is a 2 part project.
I'm going to start with my rendition of Tiger I #822 from 2nd SS Panzer division Das Reich on the Eastern Front Winter 1943. It has an interesting history. It entered service in February 1943 as #822 fighting in the Donets campaign, 3rd battle of Kharkov.
Tiger 822 was commanded by Paul Egger who also has an interesting and colorful history. He was originally a pilot in the Luftwaffe. He was highly decorated, survived the war and lived to be 90 years old. 822 later became S13 under Egger and fought in Operation Zitadelle/battle at Kursk and survived through November 1943. Sooo I'll also be doing an S13 when 822 is done."
Turns out after learning more, S13 lasted through December 1943. Her crew and Paul Egger survived and were refitted in France. I am still working on further research, but I do know they were again active with Das Reich in another Tiger I and made a long road march to Normandy after D-Day. Sooooo the next Tiger I will now be a midwar version to represent that unit. Egger escaped Normandy and was then sent to the Eastern front to fight until the end of the war. So more research needed for a late war Tiger I.
I present Early war Tiger I #822
Heng Long, All plastic except gearbox, sprockets and idler wheels, added recoil BB cannon.
Tiger S13 is Heng Long, Metal= gears, roadwheels, idlers, sprockets, tracks, 360 turret, recoil bb cannon.

Such a cool group to be part of.
Herr Dr. Professor, "HDP" from now on,,, I just love your results, textures, paint work, decals and details such an awesome build. It was worth the wait.
Mr. Rat, I think I got the sneak peak in the FB groups but I follow those on my phone and seeing pics of your Tiger 996 on a bigger screen are a must. Such excellent work. I am going to harass you when I do Zimmerit.
and the Soviet beast from Mr. CC, screams BIG, cold, lumbering, clanking, belching winter awesomeness

I always fixate on the tarps and straps on the fender.
Nice work All.
Thank you for the support Kaczor and Marco Peter.

Oh, yeah: this has turned out to be a success---and I'd bet more Winter/D-Day finals photos will be coming here, too. I have been awed by the quality of the builds you all have managed. I learned a bit, too, including (

) what I missed and would do were I to start all over again.
