Yep the flimsy was really called the flimsy, and they really were flimsy. Yet they seemed to be favoured over the jerry can. Of which the name also carries its own history

So I have now painted and applied the cammo to the queen of the desert and decided I don’t like it, so I have looked through many many photos of them and found that not all had cammo, I also find from photos that the standard Portland stone base colour is a much more effective cammo than the actual cammo scheme applied

I'm still wanting to the Caunter scheme on the Matilda simply because it's different than most schemes. I want mine to look similar to this one:

Was that built up from Inkor's plans, or is it the one available from Ludwig's? Looks fantastic! Birthday boy is lucky!

I've always loved the Caunter scheme, but the Malta paint job is running a close second. Plus an Australian 3in howitzer version in olive drab, plus...

That one is just an example. Mine is built from Inkor's STLs and looks like this:

When I was in Nepal we used to have to refuel our DHC2 Beaver (US Army U6) with flimsys.
It was bad enough back in Singapore using a proper hose from an aircraft refueller, Climbing onto the engine then getting onto the mainplane and walking along the main spar carrying a total of 8 x 5 Flimsys to fill up the 2 x 20 gallon tip tanks then getting down and doing the the same to a 30 gallon and 2 x 28 gallon belly tanks was quite simply a pain in the extremities specially in 30c temperatures.
