So his business plan is to have the buyer get the STL or buy it through him from Cults, and then he prints the files. An interesting method that orbits the outer galaxies of the whole personal use thing.

Why doesn't he just do the "3D printer for hire" schtick thst other people do and just say he can print your tank STLs for this printer time/supplies fee? What a difficult life.

Yes. He came up with this (non-functioning) way around the rules about six months or a year ago, when I told him that the only way a person offering 3D printing can legally print such a thing commercially is if a customer delivers STL files to him.

Unfortunately he fails to understand the difference between offering general 3D printing services to customers and if he offers specific models for printing.
And of course, if he is buying STL for this purpose himself, that's an even bigger violation of the "non-commercial license".
So this way of circumventing the rules doesn't work.
Today, communication with the owners of Cults3D confirmed this for me.

Making copywrite claims on Youtube is a waste of time - while it is true that he has used your model in the video, if it is his original video footage then Youtube will reject the complaint, and could then come back after you for making false claims.

I too have seen this guy and I have also question him as I have many of the stls he is selling models of from the designer many of us use.

My question was why are you selling these as printed models, the files are for personal use only. I know this because I have bought the same files from the same designer.

The answer I got was he had some sort of arrangement where a % was paid for each model sold using that design.

Naturally I am sceptical of that as we all know what China is like for copying or stealing other people designs but I didn’t press the matter further as I couldn’t be bothered to continue arguing with an idiot
