So that's what was in the "promotion" box. Another lost in translation moment.
OK, so Hariboo gummy bears--are the sugar-free (sugarfree? sugar free? su garfree?) sugar-free versions really as gastrointestinally lethal as the reviews suggest? I needs to know!
Mike.
Yes guilty as charged, just a simple Tiger I in the promotional box. I was originally going to look for an entry level all plastic tank. The cheapest I found one was $109. also from ToucanRC. Then a different forum member turned me on to this Ebay auction. For the price I got it, it was a few dollars more than what Motion RC sells their "Upgrade" version for and about $80+ less than what they charged for their "Pro" model which is virtually the same spec.
I have never tried the Haribo sugar free but have also heard the horror stories and wouldn't intentionally torture myself to find out the fuss.

Tonight I had some time. So it was take all the stuff off that was screwed, glued or bolted on.
Easy enough
822 does not have the feifel filters installed. I like this look on Tiger I. I actually searched a bit for an early unit in winter garb sans these filters.
now that I took this apart I can see why the smoke doesn't flow out of the mufflers. I'll have to do something to remedy this.
hatches off easy enough, not like way back when you guys had to drill out the cover and install the metal hatches. I may not replace these. I'm undecided.I do have the metal replacements and do like the "Clonk" they make but I'm not sure if they're necessary.
The commanders copula came off with ease. That Will be replaced for the obvious inaccuracies.
A cool use for bamboo skewers. worked well helping pry off the front hull plate.
I'm set on changing the drivers vision block so taking this plate off will facilitate that mod. I'm also going to do something with the MG ball mount. I can either swap in the Mato ball mount that I got but it's scale looks bigger than the stock HL piece. Or I also grabbed a Taigen MG so I could also drill out the ball mount and fab up a ball and add the MG to that. I'm undecided here as well.
Here is what took me the most time and fought me tooth and nail this evening-
I scribed the edges and scraped with a razor. I pried with the toothpicks again. I even drilled out the mounting pegs from the bottom. Whoever glued this bastard POS piece on should be fired for wasting the most of Heng Longs company supply of glue.
Holy crap that was alot of glue for that particular part. It did Not want to release.
But I finally got it off after scratching stuff all to hell and breaking one of the handles. When I got it off I trimmed it up and voila.
More to come.

Holy cow! That was over glue. Creative use of the skewers. I don't remember how, but I modified the stock driver's vision block to be functional. It was about 7 years ago and I'm getting old...

Time today to cut, saw and contemplate.
I picked up both the Mato Tiger I MG ball and the Taigen MG to see which one I liked best.
For reference here is what it should look like from 131-
Here is the Mato that I'm not exactly satisfied with-
So I thought that I'd do some surgery with the Pin vise and different bit sizes to see what it could look like cleaned up and or if I could use the Mato ball mount in the stock mount. If modding the stock piece didn't work out I would just use the Mato piece.
Drill away-
Honestly I'm happy it came out ok.
I'm going to see how to mount the Taigen MG to the stock piece.
Any Ideas? I thought of cutting a small plastic ball like a ping-pong ball. Has anyone tried this?
Opinions/advice?
UPDATE! I think I've found a viable option for the MG ball and how to make it movable!

Next step Drivers Visor. My only concern was would the Mato piece have any of the slightest overlap or would there be a gap.
Razor saw time-
and off she goes. lets see how the new piece fits...
It has the slightest overlap it needs cleaning up but fits perfectly
Overall this part will go smoothly and I'm satisfied.

Ahhhh this cutting stuff off used to scare the crap outa me but now that I've started I'm addicted...
Tiger 822 had damage and missing fenders so here I go again with the saw.
I picked this tank because it had a unique history and visual ques that I find interesting.

Butchery is addictive. My first tank near stock, the next a scratch build. You'll never go back! Keep up the great work...
