for Jimster, for my PZ III? Personally I used this, a 10X10 aluminum angle iron, possibly reshaped, and glued to the top of the front face of the inclined plane of the lower frame, and a formed aluminum plate, on the upper frame, which fits into the angle, then on the back, a screw hidden under a lot of edge for fixing.

it is likely that it will be necessary to reopen the angle a bit? in order to have the right angle with the upper part
Personally is that what I did? Surely there are other solutions?

That is what I was thinking of with magnets at the rear.

You could even break it up and sell the parts, from just what's shown in the pictures ( gearboxes, barrel flash, recoil and elevation units ) you could be close on 100 quid, you could put this towards a better and more complete specimen

That is what I was sort of thinking. Remove anything that can be salvaged, and use the hulk as a target in the garden.

Oh, no, Meter rat, will it be "bracket and magnets" or "parted out"? I respect either choice, but I am in suspenders wondering which it will be.

Front mount is square rod glued to the lower hull and the same mounted on the upper hull, with two tongues facing forward. This slips over the ones on the lower hull.

Similar to Mr Jofaur’s plan. Decided to use magnets at the rear, which are on order.

There are these convenient posts at the rear, which with extensions could hold magnets.

Just read Jimster’s Tiger build all the way through. Lots of useful ideas and links. Before I go down the rabbit hole of Tigers, are there any major flaws with the Hobby Boss Tiger that need correcting before I proceed any further? All the references seem to match the Tamiya Tiger. Obviously it is not as well detailed as the Tamiya. I do not want to start attaching parts only to find I need to hack it apart further. Many parts from the Tamiya hill will be moved across or used to further detail parts.

As the house was quiet an hour or two was spent after coming home from work.

As the HB rear is devoid of detail around the mudguards.

No detail and damage from removal of the HB mudguards.

I decided to transfer the Tamiya details over.

As I had been less than careful about removing them when I cut off the back, and I had thrown them away (cue search through smell dustbin). I salvaged what I could.

This is where you find the plastic is different thickness, and with different shapes. Eventually the the right hand side was looking respectable and only required a small amount of filler.

The other side will require more work, but I am very happy how this is going..

Looking great on the Salvage work. I always feel responsible for the models that I work on. If broken, I repair as well as I can or replace parts to bring back functionality. Good on you!

Next little update.
Unsure if to use the back deck from the Tamiya, onto the HB. Is the Tamiya more prototypical than the HB for an early Tiger? Not sure if to swop them. Serious surgery required. Simple for the experienced builders, may be difficult for me. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

As small and easy change was to change the commanders cupola from the HB one to the Tamiya. For once I had glued the HB cupola on to well. The Tamiya one came off easily. I ended up destroying the HB one.

A bit of filler will be required.
As the Tiger is a mine field that is too big for my small brain, I think a facsimile of an early one is not unreasonable using the two models. The wife suggested building a “ghost tank” with a commander with a skull for a bit of fun. As she stated this is supposed to be fun.

Great idea! I have a ghost Tiger waiting for a build but I haven’t made it past the commander skull. I’m definitely following your thread.

We have Ghost Jagdpanthers and Ghost Shermans. Nothing wrong with adding some Ghost Tigers in. This is supposed to be fun as noted. ;o)
