Its good that the main RC Tank forum has the diversity of including other RC vehicles etc, and I posted here initially because I thought it would save me joining a specific RC boat forum which I may have to do it seems to get some of the answers and advice I would like, thanks for what input has been given so far though !

Look for a Flysky two channel transmitter/receiver kit on Amazon (there are surface and air versions), probably less than $50 (Stick or Wheel). Both your steering servo and speed control will plug into the RX. As for the battery a 7.2 stick battery should be just the ticket. I would try that motor once you get it going before just swapping it out.

Yes, Pine-Tree72, you probably could get more specific help on a marine-specific RC forum. I do, however, think Ecam's suggestions are quite good. Regardless, I would be interested to see the PT Boat as you progress with it and launch it. Quite a few of us have at least one or two RC boats.

[/img]By way of an update on this topic too ... I have learnt a lot and perhaps come a long way with the PT boat, still class myself as a novice though, pictures will tell the story better I think so will let them speak for themselves, whatever this is the boat now with a crew of 14 that I have tried to present in working stances, also fitted some extras to it as well as lighting to the mast, cabins, the searchlight. bow and navigation lights...

Thank you .... I don't call myself a modeller, oh I can put together plastic and other kits OK and can paint them and dress them to look more realistic but not build from scratch and I take my hat off to the folks that do that.
I have two of these now, the first one I call the No 1 boat that was a resto as Henry Cole might say, and the second one that I bought as an opened and (slightly) started kit, the No 2 boat, (very imaginative huh ) ... both in a sense being rescue operations and in learning from them as I have I have it in mind to try and buy another essentially unopened/unstarted one that I can say would be 100% my effort, the thing being that whereas Lindberg are an excellent vehicle it seems for RC installation but low on detail, the Italeri is excellent for detail but apparently doesn't lend itself too well for RC conversion, the thought crossing my mind that perhaps I could buy both, use the hull deck and cabins etc from the Lindberg and (where they would fit) the detailing from the Italeri, the difference in scale on the smaller items being negligent perhaps .. the cost though being perhaps a little high given the prices of the separate kits ?

For those interested pics attached of the No 2 boat and the two together, both sail well, the No2 boat being a little more sedate than the No 1 boat but both produce a nice bow wave and wake and sit up well at speed.

Hi yes you got it .. I titled the pics wrong .. ...

Im attaching a pic, (actually a video grab so sorry for the lack of quality), of the No 2 boat in motion .. sail them on a canal near me, not an ideal place but is somewhere I can test them, it serves to show the way she sits at speed, and if I say the No 1 boat looks even better and faster you can imagine what that looks like, both I think exceeding the 4mph speed limit on a canal and perhaps too the approximate 8mph scale speed .. the thing being I have learnt (to my cost too) ..
that for one thing its not as simple as buying or building a boat etc and 'sailing it' there is a level of skill demanded I think and I have come to the realisation that I need to perhaps 'learn to drive' them to use a phrase. .,.
.. and that for another thing you can't sail them and video at the same time .. as I said, to my cost as I had an accident with the No 1 boat while trying to do just that and as it was heading to a brick embankment at speed I panicked somewhat and instead of hitting stop I hit reverse .. hard .. the result being as in the picture .. c'est la vie, suffice to say lesson leant and it is now repaired.
