I took a look at the Toucan Hobby listings on US eBay. As is usual with Toucan (also Build-for-You), the prices range from over $1200US ( 8O ) to about $200US with no truly clear indication of the specific differences. :wtf:

So far as I can figure, the over-the-top price is for HengLong 7.0, barrel recoil, 360 turret rotation, BB and IR, metal chassis, drive sprocket, idler, road wheels, and return rollers. The next step down has the same configuration except for the shake-rattle-and-roll recoil (no barrel recoil). If I have that correct, it's $700US for the barrel recoil. Riiiightt! :lolno: Worse yet, the tank comes painted, but the metal suspension, wheels and tracks are unpainted, so you get to tear the tank apart anyway.

Toucan seems to do so many variations, but with inadequate "boilerplate" descriptions, that it undermines trust. Having griped all that much, I admit that in the past I bought two HengLong Shermans from Toucan, and the service seems OK.

The $1200 versions are the ones with either metal chassis or complete metal like the Leo 2A6 they were selling. All of the info about the tank is in their descriptions if you read all the way to the bottom of the listings. The metal chassis T-72 were going for around $1000 last time I checked and that is mainly because of the chassis which is $650 with shipping if bought separately. I've always been satisfied dealing with Toucan except for the time they made a mistake in pricing and then didn't honor it when i placed the order. I cancelled the order, but it took a month for them to get the refund done. I think that had a lot to do with the AliExpress refund policies though.

Indeed, I read the descriptions carefully and even compared them side-by-side. So I Tank You, tankme, for your help clarifying Toucan's terms from your buying experience. Given what you are suggesting, it seems that "metal chassis" actually means the whole hull, road wheels, drive sprocket, idler, and return rollers. Certainly the feature of the all-metal hull would explain the great price difference. I am considering one of the higher-priced versions, but excluding the top two priced in excess of $1000US.
