Each link currently takes about 20 minutes (I print 4 at a time) and there are approximately 140 per side. I have 2 printers so I can keep one trundling away doing tracks while the other is for development prototyping. I'm going to try reducing the print quality to speed things up and see how it affects the result.

That's about what I figured. But I am impressed with how 3D printing makes unique things possible (and repeatable).

It was easier than I thought but lots still to do

I always like seeing someone designing something from scratch! Looks good ;)

This is quite fun, sponson design moving along nicely

and the suspension/spring assembly

The grey bits are the spring and steel rod

Still lots to do

The suspension arm looks ok but I think I will modify it slightly to stop it dropping too much, but it's ok for a starter

The sponson suspension is progressing

Definitely some fine tuning required.

Sorted the suspension and spring mechanism
Image
Image
With the spring under tension
Image
The trailing arm has a limiter that prevents the suspension dropping too low and keeps the spring in position

Lots to do

Sponson almost finished (apart from the pretty bits, just the functional frame).

and on the scale blueprint

Just have to design the track tensioner mechanism

You're motoring on with this one, think you'll have it done in time for Blackpool?
