I know Bludenz, Schruns, and especially St Gallenkirch in the West of Austria well, having stayed in St Gallenkirch twice. Yes, it's an easy drive from Zürich, where my son lives to Austria (and vice versa).
In fact, in one day, we began a day out in Zürich; had lunch in Konstanz (Germany); afternoon coffee and cakes in Bregenz (Austria) whilst travelling around, and across, the Bodensee (Lake Constance). Then, this all culminated with an evening meal in the Italian canton of Switzerland!. Yep, Switzerland is conveniently placed for sightseeing in Germany, Austria, France, Italy and even Liechtenstein- but, blink :D and you might miss it!.
I don't blame you wishing to live there, Frank. My son's now a Swiss citizen; but they don't make it easy to become one.
(WE might dish out passports like confetti- :shifty: but the Swiss certainly don't :shh: ).

Swiss King Tiger- glacis detail
Swiss King Tiger- glacis detail
Here's another pic I took, just to get some idea of the massive scale of the drive sprocket, and the beefiness of the hull sides. The glacis itself resisted most projectiles aimed at it...

Good morning
The Bodensee is on our list of places we would love to live, we took the konstanz ferry to Meersburg, there is-was a V2 site ,anywhere round the lake will do us ,also on our list are the Allgau, Sudtirol any part of the Tirol really. my favourite beers are from Eggenberg.so all in all a good place to live. How long has your son lived in Switzerland? Does he speak Swiss-German?

Well I see, you know where it is beautiful to live and I'm very lucky to live here (15 min drive by car South of Bregenz) and working in Liechtenstein (I agree, Liechtenstein is very tiny ;) )
Talking about the V2 site; a little North of Lake Constance is Sigmaringen where they had a test area of the Natter rocket.

Goods morning Panzerjaeger66
We live here (see pic) in the North of England and sail on this lake but we would love to live in or near the Alps, this was going to happen but our plans changed when our son came along ,I was 45 and didnt think I would have children but here we are.I got a good deal, because I could not imagine life without my son (and wife) I will try and find a few photographs of the V2 site.
All the best
Frank

Frank, I love your landscape as well. Few times I was on vacation in England and love (not only) the museums you have on hand (especially Bovington Tank Museum and the Fleet Air Arm Museum)!
There are so many beautiful places out there...

Since we're having a feast of landscape reverie (and why not? :D ). Here's a view from my house- to which I've just added a topical greeting. I took this pic of Loch Ewe back in 2006 and yes, it can snow a lot here. :) However, the gulf stream often makes the North West Highlands (pretty much on the same latitude as Alaska, Oslo and Moscow) warmer than the European mainland in Winter.

Hmm..I'll do it for you:

Although I'm mostly Scottish (with 12 % Norwegian thrown in, according to Ancestry DNA 8O ), my Dad's family came from Ballyneale, in Tipperary, Frank.
My lad has been in Switzerland for nigh on 13 years, and yes, he can hack the bizarre Zürcher dialekt. I'm fine with Hochdeutsch, and Platt.

Freddy, you are very lucky to live and work where you do! Alles Gute!.
Here's a brilliant guide to the Highland landscape:
