Thank you for the pictures and help.
I had to drive a AFV434 towing an AFV432 all the way from Saltau training area back to Dielinghofen on the holey bones. The Ssgt was an ace guy and let me sleep while he disconnected the “muff” couplings.
For those who are in the dark the couplings are a splined collar between the steering box and the final drive. These steering box and the final drive are shimmed up to ensure a level drive line.
