klear floor polish can be applied straight from the bottle with a brush or airbrush theres no need to thin it down.

Hi,

In my many years as a modeller I have never run in a gearbox of the type used in tanks. All I do is run them for an hour in each direction at medium speed with light loading (no steep hills, running over large obstacles or tight turns on grass or carpet ) after first checking that they are adequately greased.

This will also help to bed in the brushes on the motors, track links and sprockets.

Don't run it sitting in the garden on a brick - this won't help with the tracks & sprockets

The Tamiya gearboxes seem to be reasonably well put together, but the Heng Long ones might benefit from having the side plates loosened and adjusted for best freedom of rotation before being re-tightened.

Just to clear up some confusion if you are using tamiya gearboxes then these dont need paste or anything to loosen the "gears"
this idea came about for H/long gearboxes the metal ones as these are of inferior quality (The gears are cast and are of a type of white metal) and are generally really tight and bind where they shouldnt so the "Paste" helps to free them up

The advice from big panzer is sound in the fact that the tammy boxes only really need a light oiling and a no load run will work wonders ;) ;)

Hope this helps

Kind regards Rob

I've not found the US equiv of Klear yet, so I can't speak to how it works - but I do have a bunch of 1:72 Aircraft that have been thoroughly runied by yellowing enamel varnish tho!
I've also had bad experiences with running in stug gearboxes with a power drill - it chewed the **** out of the teeth of one gears!
I guess the moral of this storey is to try it out first before diving in...
