Torro have only just started carrying the Taigen T34 in Europe (believe IMEX in the US had exclusivity on those for a couple of years), I would have had change from buying all 5 of my WSN's for the price of one of those currently...
Secret option B if the gearboxes do fail:

@ Richard - I'll have to get mine out and check the speed. I don't recall its being particularly slow, more being ridiculously fast with the original 9.6V system. I know El-Mod gets horribly confused when it gets plugged into to a motor and gearbox combination that it is not set up for, and requires significant tweaking of the acceleration and gearshifts, does the Clark not have a similar ability to recalibrate?

Thanks Tiger6. I believe that there is a 'fit' issue with the HL/Taigen gearboxes into the WSN hull? Are Clarke boards easily available though or is the case that they cost a fortune because they come from the USA? Please excuse the ignorance here!!

I've been e-mailing Dave and he's just suggested that! I wonder how easy it is to switch the upper hull over?

The Clark tk20 was the entry level board and is non programmable so far as acceleration is concerned, so far as I am aware, though I am happy to be corrected by anyone who knows. I bought it as plug and play.

Thanks

Just had a thought - if you buy that Taigen Chassis, you will need to get the wheel set as well because the original plastic ones won't fit. Can't be 100% on whether the tracks would mesh with the Tiagen sprockets, but you'll likely find that you need the tracks as well as the WSN ones might not take kindly to the extra weight.
Bottom line, I'd recommend sticking your original plan of doing the electronics swap, run the original plastic parts until they break (and like I said, if you are careful they should be fine) and be saving up the pennies in the meantime

About the gearboxes if you do strip the gears the amount of plastic gears available for rc robots and so on it shouldn't be difficult to find replacements it might be even possible to find brass or steel gears instead of plastic

Thanks guys - I’m getting the cart in front of the horse - let’s see how bad this is and take it from there. Yes Dave has agreed that you need a full lower hull swap so tracks, running gear, and whilst you’re at it, motors and gear boxes!! Expensive!!

Indeed, and there is no guaranty that you'd really be significantly happier with it when you are finished forking over all of that hard earned cash (altho Dave probably won't thank me for saying that

).
